- 1. Colt Cabana real name Scott Colton
Born:5/6/80
Colt Cabana is one of the most popular world traveled wrestlers in the business, and he could
also be credited for much of the success of the pro wrestling podcast industry with his wildly
successful “Art of Wrestling” podcast. Colt has wrestled extensively in Canada, Europe, Mexico,
Japan and all over the United States and has a great technical style, that has a lot of British
wrestling influence, yet he can also incorporate a little humor on the occasion, and has even
taken part in very physical hardcore brawling matches as well. Colt is a product of the
independent pro wrestling scene that exploded after WCW & ECW both went out of business in
the span of a couple months in 2001. During Colt’s many travels he wrestled in Las Vegas,
Nevada teaming with “Sexy” Sonny Samson to defeat Ricky Reyes and Bobby Joe Marshall, in
front of a well attended crowd of up and over 1,000 at the Orleans Casino Arena. In Ring of
Honor, Colt teamed with Raven against CM Punk & Ace Steel, but ended up turning on Raven
and forming the Second City Saints, which would be one of the top factions in ROH history. May
of 2002 saw Colt defeat CM Punk and Chris Hero in a three way dance, on a card for Ian
Rotten’s IWA Mid South promotion. During September of 2002 Colt entered the IWA Mid South
Sweet Science 16 Tournament facing “Kamikaze” Ken (Mr.) Anderson in the first round.
Morristown, New Jersey was the scene of a “Soccer Riot” match where Cabana defeated rival
Nigel McGuiness. On the November 11th, 2005 TV taping of WWE Sunday Night Heat, Eugene
beat Colt Cabana. In May of 2010 Colt captured the 1st Annual “Global Conflict” tournament
shield in Perth, Australia, defeating the late, great Balls Mahoney in the tourney finals. Colt has
also wrestled as Scotty Goldman, Officer Colt Cabana, amongst other names and brief
personas (Twinkie the Kid!?!) and is even rumored to be the masked Matt Classic, though
surely t’was somebody else when Matt Classic teamed with Colt Cabana in England. Colt has
held many titles, and competed in numerous tournaments throughout his career, and as I write
this he is gearing up for a World Title challenge of Ring of Honor Champ, Jay Lethal this
forthcoming weekend. Colt certainly seems to compete for some of the top innovative
promotions around the globe, such as: House of Hardcore, Resistance Pro, Dreamwave, AIW,
AAW, Beyond, F1RST wrestling, and many great international companies. Colt’s feud with
Adam Pearce over the NWA World Title was well documented, and Colt has certainly never
shied away from any feud during his career. In January of 2013 Colt was scheduled for a bout
against KENTA, in Ehime, Japan at the Matsuyama City Community Center. On February 1st,
2014 Colt defeated Drew Gulak in a two out of three falls match that was part of National Pro
Wrestling Day, on an event that also featured Hallowicked, Mike Bennett, Sonjay Dutt and
others. Colt has also done remarkable gaining his own press, with a March 2014 Chicago
Tribune article, and a February 2015 www.rollingstone.com article (that focused also on his
pocast and stand up comedy exploits) among two of the more noted examples. Colt has already
accomplished so much in his tenure, yet it seems that there are many more great moments in
the ring yet to come from this Chicago native, and I, for one, can not wait to see what the future
holds for Colt Cabana.
