2. It takes a village to raise a child. In hospice
we believe it takes a great team to
provide excellent end of life care.
3. Jeffrey is a 62 year old gentleman recently
diagnosed with terminal cancer. Jeffrey
and Neiva, his girlfriend of 13 years, are
frantically making plans for this
unexpected life changing event.
4. Jeffrey and Neiva postponed their wedding
three years ago so that Jeffrey could
recover fully from a stroke.
6. On Wednesday Chaplain Carmen and
Chaplain Scott worked with the city
probate court to get a marriage license. A
local Shipping Post Office Store assisted
by making a personal visit to Jeffrey’s
bedside to get the license application
notarized.
7. Our Volunteer Manger Leonard scheduled a
musician and Community Liaison Robin
provided flowers and a beautifully
custom wedding cake made by a friend
who is a baker.
8. On Thursday Social Worker Marni offered
counseling support to Neiva and Jeffrey
during this emotional time. Marni guided
them in preparing a final will with the
rapid assistance of Hurley Elder Law.
9. On Friday morning Jeffrey began to decline
quickly. At 5am Continuous Care Nurses
Krista and Juliet were at the bedside to
ensure Jeffrey was comfortable.
10. Friday morning at 830am Chaplain Danny
presided over the wedding for Jeffrey and
Neiva with Marni, Juliet and other
hospice team members present.
11. Friday morning at 9am the lawyer arrived
to finalize Jeffrey’s will.
At 4pm Jeffrey passed away with his wife
of only a few short hours by his side.
12. We are blessed to have so many amazingly
compassionate people serving others.
Thank you to all who made this happen.
