bottles resulted in him finding
some lost treasure belonging to
another NZMCA member.
Richard Wooders was 11-years-old
when he stubbed his toe on a bottle while
walking in the mudflats beside
the Chelsea Sugar Works
on Auckland’s North Shore.

5. …, a mineral water bottle with
a marble in it's neck, and Richard
sold it for $300.
So began a lifelong passion
for bottles and other collectibles.

The Complete Stamp Company
where he buys and sells stamps,
but his passion is
DIVING FOR BOTTLES.

7. in Tauranga Harbour when out of the corner
of his eye he spotted a wallet.
“I’ve dived Tauranga Harbour
a few hundred times,”
says Richard.
RECENTLY HE WAS DIVING

8. “I’ve found a lot of wallets but usually they’re
empty. Pickpockets steal them, take
everything and chuck them
in the water.
THIS ONE WAS LYING OPEN
and you could see the credit cards
and what turned out to be
$505.00 in cash.”

9. “I joke with my friends that it would have
been a lot more exciting for me if it was full
of cash and had no ID!
When I got home I looked through it
and one of the cards was the owner’s
NZMCA MEMBERSHIP CARD.
It meant I had no excuses for not
tracking him down!”

10. Richard rang the NZMCA office and spoke to the
CEO who helped reunite
the grateful owner with his wallet.
“THE GENTLEMAN WAS DELIGHTED
to get his wallet and his cash back,”
says Richard.

11. “I WAS JUST GLAD
that I found it. The NZMCA has been
good to me and it was nice to be able to help
out another member.”
