1. INTRODUCTION
The cost to the South African Market as a result of fires in commercial and industrial enterprises ranges in the order of R3
million per day.
What is happening in the industry and especially the commercial sector, products and applicators are being appointed
based purely on price instead of a genuine commitment to meeting the safety standard.
Key areas in any tender evaluation should be:
 Has the product been officially tested by a recognised South African Authority?
 Is the test report relevant to the application?
 Has the applicator done any testing at the authority with the products i.e. does he have proven credentials ?
 What experience has the applicator had with the type of work being required?

for the chemical and petrochemical industries as well as for commercial buildings.

The production of Pyro-Cote products is controlled to meet exacting standards at every stage and in compliance with ISO
standards. Quality in manufacturing, product testing and installation provide the reliability that our customers have
become accustomed to.
2. QUALITY MANAGEMENT
As we offer a specialized service we have developed comprehensive installation instruction and procedures for the various
product applications. All product batches are also recorded against the installation. Our quality management systems
have been officially inspected and accepted by some of our major customers such as Engen Refinery, Karbochem and
Krupp S.A. and meet the requirements of the ISO 9001:2000 quality management systems.

As associated members of South African Fire Protection Association and the Institute of Steel Construction, we are
committed to providing quality products with high standards of installation.

2. Our staffing policy has been focused on the upliftment of our black personnel providing them with technical and
management skills in order to fill supervisory positions. This objective has been achieved as a result of:
• Regular in-house training courses
• Allowing regular interaction of ideas.
• Staff members have attended safety courses.
• Personnel attending formal management courses, details on request.
• The Company has encouraged and paid for people to obtain drivers licenses. Five (8) people to date.
• Financial incentives for work well done or where financial returns of the company have allowed for additional distribution
of profits.
We are also very aware of the need to provide as much economic input and technical training into local communities and
therefore where practically viable will recruit temporary staff from the location of the contract.
