Essay 2
1. My Favorite Book
Out of all the books I have read, I must say The Princess by Lori Wick is my favorite.
The reason it is my favorite because of several different reasons. The Princess is my favorite
book because of the bible verses throughout the book, how the characters fall in love with each
other, and the story shows the character's love for God.
The first reason The Princess is my favorite book is because of the different bible verses
shown throughout the book. The story starts out how a man is at a conference and he is deaf. He
goes into his whole life story and gets to meet the family of the guy sharing his testimony. Josiah,
the character in this story tells and begins to quote bible verses that helped lead him to a saving
knowledge of Christ. He said in the book that even though his is deaf, he is constantly reminded
of Philippians four thirteen. Also, different characters through the whole book talk about how the
pastor's sermon makes them think twice. Shelby even does a morning devotion with God that
helps me to think about my walk with God. I love the bible verses in different parts of this book.
My next favorite reason I love The Princess so much is how the character's meet. Prince
Nickoli goes to his parents, Ericka and Rafe, Nickoli's first wife has been dead for a couple years.
He tells his parents that he is at the age in their country that he is supposed to have a wife to take
over the throne one day. Well his parents listen to him fully and he tells his parents he wants his
second marriage to be a marriage of convenience. They all carefully consider it and pray
reverently about the situation. The King Rafe's friend goes to hear Josiah speak and meets him,
his wife, and his daughter Shelby. He was so impressed with Shelby that he goes and tells Rafe
about her. Rafe prays and calls on his friend to see if he would check Shelby and her family out.
He goes to meeting with Josiah and his wife while he makes some inquiries about Shelby. He
goes back to Rafe tells him about Shelby, her faith, and that she has a clean record. Rafe talks to
2. Nickoli about Shelby and writes a letter and prays her family will accept his dad's friend and his
request. When Rafe's friend is welcomed into the home, he talks to them all but especially
Shelby. He tells her his intentions and the reason he came to talk to her. Shelby tells him she
would need to pray and think about the marriage of convenience. The story goes to say Shelby
and Nickoli write letters off and on even after she accepts his wedding proposal. A few months
later they start doing things together and finally fall in love with each other. Several months after
that she discovers that she's pregnant. She leaves him to go to her moms because she feels she
can not compete with his first wife. He goes and talks to her about the misunderstanding is
settled and they live happily ever after even through eternity.
Finally, the last reason The Princess is my favorite is because of the characters love for
God. Every time Shelby meets a new character if they are a believer in Christ they tell her their
story. Before Shelby met Nickoli, she had worked at the a hospital. There she had a group of
elderly cancer patient ladies that she was friends with. She would wear a wig to make her bible
study group feel welcome. The pastor Rev. Hurst would meet with Nickoli weekly to pray about
how to court his wife. Queen mother, which is Nickoli's grandma falls for Shelby and thinks she
is a sweet girl. All the kings and queens fall for Shelby because she is the sweetest, most
precious Christian girl they have ever met.
In conclusion, to all the literary works I have ever read, nothing can match up to The
Princess. Through seeing bible verses throughout the story, how characters met, and how
characters show their love for God are the top reasons this book is my favorite, I could keep
reading this book over and over again.
