To what extent does morrison take csr as a priority 12 marks

  1. 1. www.studenttech.co.ccTo what extent does Morrisons take CSR is a priority? – [12] Marks.Corporate social responsibility is essentially how a business interacts with its different stakeholdersand the responsibility it has towards them.Morrison says a strong CSR policy toward staff and the environment. Staff gains considerable fringebenefits as well as a good wage and thus shows Morrisons commitment to their staff and theirmotivation. Also, Morrisons is keen on education; in evidence G Morrison says taken up aninnovative form of CSR to teach children about how food is grown which would also be helpful inteaching them about their academic subjects. In this way, Morrisons is nurturing the nextgeneration to appreciate the environment. This goes hand-in-hand with Morrisons corporatemission statement, taking good care of tomorrow. However, Tesco and is DA provide better pay as well as similar fringe benefits. Furthermore theyboth have formidable CSR policies with respect to the environment. This in turn makes Morrison CSRlook mediocre. Thus, Morrisons may simply have this CSR policy to stay in the retailing business. And most importantly, Morrisons does not differentiate itself in terms of CSR but rather in providinghigh-quality foodstuffs. To conclude Morrison CSR is innovative as well as being an effective form of marketing but when itcomes to making CSR priority, it is easy to understand that the real intent is public-relations andmarketing as Morrisons links school gardens the vouchers in their shops. Thus, CSR is a marketingand motivational tool that does not go to the full extent to being a form of ethical action.
