Ralph Tanios has studied at the American University of Beirut where he received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with distinction and is currently pursuing an M.D. He has worked on research projects in anatomy, cell biology, epidemiology, and organic chemistry. He also tutors university and high school students in various subjects and has volunteered at a radiology center. In his free time, Ralph enjoys dancing, running track, and various other sports.

• Worked in Dr. George Daoud’s lab on research focusing on placental diseases.
• Cultured and maintained several placental cell lines including HTR, Jeg-3, and others.
• Learned to perform basic lab skills such as PCR, ELISA, Western Blots and others.
• Currently: Using microarray and other techniques to compare Jeg-3 and BeWo genomes in an
attempt to explain the difference in their behavior upon adding forskolin.
Sept. 2014 – Present Research in Epidemiology
• Designed and executed an IRB-approved cross-sectional study.
• Topic: Correlation between Type A personality and Androgenetic Alopecia amongst the
Lebanese male population.

• Learned to read and identify pathologies in X-rays, Ultrasound, CT, PET, and MRI scans.
• Interacted with patients. Took histories and prepared them for screening.

Cyclometalated Ruthenium Complex”.

• Individual laboratory work involved synthesizing solar cells, testing them, plotting results for
impedance of generated currents and mentoring colleagues in using and managing software.
