Which countries are the major producers of coffee? Brazil – grows roughly a third of the world’s coffee. Vietnam – although Vietnam ranks second in the world for total volume of coffee exported, it does not yield a significant crop of high grade speciality coffee.  Colombia- produces 1/10th of the world’s coffee. Ranks 3rd in the world.  Indonesia – the world’s fourth largest producer of coffee. Costa Rica – produces some of the best coffees in the world. Guatemala  Kenya       Mexico Peru Uganda
WHY IS COFFEE PRODUCED? Coffee is one of  the most popular beverages in the world. A lot of people enjoy drinking coffee in the morning. Coffee keeps people awake when they have to study or drive in the night.  Coffee is the second most commonly traded item in the world, only petroleum leads it.  Another reason coffee is produced is because it tastes good and makes a good beverage.  Drinking coffee has become so addictive that people will even queue up to be served their favourite variation, be it latte, espresso, mocha or a plain Americano.
Which countries import coffee? USA imports over 1200 thousand tonnes of coffee. Germany Italy Japan France Spain Canada United Kingdom
Does New Zealand export or import coffee? New Zealand imports coffee from countries like El Salvador, Guatemala, Venezuela etc. According to http://www.ico.org/documents/wp-statistics-140e-organic.pdfNew Zealand has exported 316 bags weighing 60kgs of organic coffee between October 08-June 09.  You can grow coffee anywhere with a temperature range of 5-30C and with a medium rainfall and humidity. For example, Kaitaia region, Gisbourne etc.
How much coffee did NZ export (import) in the last financial year? New Zealand imports from El Salvador, and 14% of those imports have been coffee. New Zealand imports from Guatemala, and 70% of those imports have been coffee.  New Zealand imports from Venezuela, and 18% of these imports have been coffee.  New Zealand has exported 316 bags weighing 60kgs of organic coffee *This information, however true, is not relating to the last financial year.
