I cannot say enough in praise of Steven Spenser's outstanding work on our largest
international account during the time he was with EvansGroup. Without his dedication,
hard work and professional ability, the successful launch of our award-winning "American
Wood and Construction" trade publication would not have been possible.
Steven came onto a project that already was weeks behind on deadline, and was
able, working day and night, to research, interview, write and edit all the copy of our first
two issues—60 pages of text—in fewer than four weeks during the Christmas holidays.
Steven consistently performed superior work far above entry level. With no prior
experience in technical writing about the wood-products industry he crafted interesting,
informative and useful features promoting wood-frame construction and U.S. wood products
to Japanese construction professionals. His work on every issue was so crucial—and expertly
done—we could not have done the same job without him.
Steven rapidly assimilated and mastered the account files he inherited; planned and
organized all the stories for each issue; directed the research, story sourcing and development;
expertly liaised with five national and international affiliated organizations cooperating on the
publication; and wrote and edited all the copy for each monthly issue.
Steven has impressed everyone here with his ability to remain calm and cool under
deadline pressure, and to deliver top-notch, professional work on time and with a minimum
of required editing. He routinely kept everything under perfect control, flawlessly organizing
a myriad of details.
Our client was extremely impressed with Steven's dedication and enthusiasm, and
with the quality of his work. Several of his newsletter articles elicited rave responses.
Steven originally was hired to produce only the first newsletter issue on an emergency
basis. His work during his first three days on the job was so outstanding his account manager
recommended he be confirmed as the writer and editor for all six issues. Steven would still be
on the account, with our firm confidence and support, if not for an agency restructuring that
necessitated eliminating many contract positions to keep our staff fully employed.
I am extremely impressed with Steven's talent, skills and ability and am profoundly
grateful for the remarkable work he did in getting our newsletter off the ground. I look
forward to Steven's return to the EvansGroup team when more work is available.
In the meantime I can recommend Steven without reservation as an extremely
proficient writer and a valuable team player capable of extraordinary results. I am confident
he will prove a fantastic addition to any organization, and I wish him the continued success
he most deservedly will earn.
