 The Mayors of Amsterdam (Mr. Eberhard van der Laan) and Amstelveen (Ms. M.M. van’t
Veld) visited India from 23-28 March 2015. They were accompanied by a delegation of
Dutch companies comprising of knowledge and cultural institutions
 On 16 April 2015, a Seminar on “Perspective on Contemporary India” was organized by
IIAS/Leiden University which was convened by ICCR Chair Prof. P.R. Kanungo. It was
attended by experts on Indian affairs from various countries. The seminar was successful
as it was understood that India is liberal, open, dynamic and progressive society
 India-Netherlands Foreign Office Consultations, Shri Navtej Singh Sarna, Secretary (West),
Ministry of External Affairs of India and Ms. Renée Jones-Bos, Secretary-General, Ministry
of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands held the India-Netherlands Foreign Office
Consultations on 4 May 2015 in The Hague
 The Dutch Prime Minister, Mark Rutte paid an official visit to India on 5-6 June 2015 at the
invitation of Prime Minister of India. PM Rutte itinerary included official meetings in New
Delhi on 5 June and business engagements in Mumbai on 6 June
 The electronic Tourist Visa (eTV) facility, extended to the Netherlands w.e.f. August 15,
2015, enables all Dutch passport holders to obtain Indian tourist visas online. Over 12,000
Dutch nationals have availed of the facility till end-April 2016

 SAIL Amsterdam-2015 was held at Amsterdam from 19-23 August 2015. The Indian Naval
Ship ‘Tarangini’ participated at the event which attracted 2.3 million visitors
 On September 2, 2015, Ambassador J.S. Mukul presenting credentials to His Majesty
Willem-Alexander, King of The Netherlands
 On 02 October 2015, Gandhi Jayanti celebration was organized at Peace Palace by
Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Foundation in collaboration with the Municipality of The
Hague. Prof. Pralay Kanungo, ICCR Chair of Contemporary Indian Studies at Leiden
University delivered a talk on Gandhian principles at Gandhi Centre in the evening
 Two delegations from the Municipality of The Hague visited India in October 2015 and
January 2016 focusing on IT and cyber security, during which several Agreements/MoUs
were signed
 The European Chapter of ASSOCHAM was opened on 2 December 2015 at Amsterdam,
followed by an India Symposium with the theme ‘Make in India’. Ambassador and the
Mayor of Amsterdam Mr. Eberhard Edzard van der Laan were the Keynote Speakers at the
event which was attended by around 150 persons

 The first ever NASSCOM-DSCI Cyber Security delegation visited The Hague Security Delta
from 11-13 April 2016. The delegation, led by Dr. Gulshan Rai, National Cyber Security
Coordinator, Government of India, comprised of 39 representatives from the Central and
State Governments, industry (security start-ups, SMBs, large IT Services and consulting
organizations), user organizations and academia
 The Netherlands-India Chamber of Commerce & Trade (NICCT) set up its operations in
Mumbai in February 2016
 The Embassy organized a Seminar on Indo-Dutch cooperation and Make in India on 2
February 2016. The event was very successful with over 150 participants from Dutch trade
and industry, government and trade promotion organizations. Besides Ambassador, other
keynote speakers were Mr. R. van Hell, Director for Foreign Economic Relations at the
Dutch MFA; Mr. Karsten Klein, Deputy Mayor of The Hague; and Mr. T. Henrar, Chairman
of the Board of Management of Tata Steel
 The local chapter of Assocham and the Europe India Chamber of Commerce organized an
India Symposium titled ‘Logistics for Make in India’ at Rotterdam on 16 March 2015
focusing on the ‘opportunities in the infrastructure sector in India’ and the ‘Indian Budget
2016’. Ambassador and the Mayor of Rotterdam were the keynote speakers at the event
with participation of over 100 persons from trade, industry and Government

Amsterdam Schipol, the Port of Rotterdam etc.
Key Agreements
 Manufacturing of dredgers in India at the Cochin Shipyard
 Manufacturing of Measles, and Rubella Vaccine in India, with transfer of technology
 Leverage Dutch expertise in developing coastal roads and metro lines in India
 Set up a Joint Working Group on Skill Development and Counter Terrorism
 Set up centres of excellence in areas like horticulture and animal husbandry
 Set up a Dutch team for collaboration in the National Clean Ganga Mission
 Preserve the fascinating remnants of Dutch heritage in India
 Partnering in developing joint pilot projects for an electric vehicle ecosystem in India
 Include the Netherlands in India’s Electronic Tourist Visa scheme. This will boost Dutch
tourism in India and enhance our people-to-people ties

 To mark the Republic Day, Indian Food Festivals were organized by the Embassy in
January 2015 & 2016 at Hotel Crowne Plaza, The Hague, in collaboration with the
Hotel and India Tourism Office Amsterdam. This helped to create awareness of
authentic Indian cuisine prepared by visiting Indian ITDC five-star hotel master chefs
 The first International Day of Yoga was celebrated on 21 June 2015 at the Atrium City,
Hall of The Hague. Over 600 people from various sections of the society comprising
of local Dutch population, Surinami Hindustani community and Indian Diaspora
participated in the event with great enthusiasm
 An ICCR-sponsored troupe led by well-known Sarod maestro Shri Basant Kabra of
Maihar-Senia Gharana visited the Netherlands from 06-10 July 2015. Three successful
programmes were organized in the Netherlands during their visit
 Holland India Festival 2015 comprising of three components, viz. Film, Dance and
Music, was held in October-November 2015. The highlights were participation of the
ICCR-sponsored Kathak Dance troupe led by Ms. Sanjukta Sinha in the Indian Dance
Festival and the ICCR-sponsored music troupe of flute maestro Pandit Nityanand
Haldipur in the Indian Music Festival. An ICCR-sponsored Sari Exhibition was also held

 A five-member delegation from UP Government , led by Shri Shambhu Singh Yadav,
Secretary to Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, visited the Netherlands from 21-24
November 2015 for understanding the planning, construction of cycle tracks in the
Netherlands along with Celebration of Constitution Day
 An event was organized on 26 November 2015 at the Gandhi Centre (Embassy’s Cultural
Centre) to commemorate the Constitution Day. Prof. Pralay Kanungo, ICCR Chair of
Contemporary Indian Studies at the Leiden University delivered a lecture on the history and
evolution of Constitution of India. Two short documentary films on the subject were also
screened on the occasion
 Jet Airways has started operating daily non-stop flights from 27 March 2016 to Amsterdam
from Mumbai and New Delhi as well as from Toronto
 On 14 April 2016, the Embassy celebrated the 125th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B.R.Ambedkar
at the Gandhi Centre. Following the opening remarks by the Ambassador, Prof. Pralay
Kanungo, ICCR Chair at Leiden University, gave the keynote speech on the occasion.
Documentaries titled ‘Spirit of Freedom’, ‘Tana Bana’, etc. were also screened on the
occasion

 On 9 January 2016, Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2016 was organized at the Gandhi Centre. Three
Pravasi Bharatiya Samman awardees from the Netherlands, viz.
 Deputy Mayor of The Hague Mr. Rabin Baldewsingh,
 Mr. Ram Lakhina and
 Mr. Wahid Saleh.
The keynote address by EAM on the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2016 and two short films on
‘Make in India’ and ‘Incredible India’ were also shown on this occasion
 World Hindi Day was organized on 10 January 2016 at the Gandhi Centre in collaboration
with the Hindi Parishad Netherlands. The Prime Minister’s message on the occasion was
read out by the Ambassador. World Hindi Day was also celebrated in Seminar on Indo-
Dutch cooperation and Make in India
 On 22 March 2016, the Jet Airways passengers stranded due to Brussels Terrorist Attack
were evacuated through transit via Amsterdam Schiphol airport. The Embassy facilitated
the travel of Indian nationals in close coordination with Jet Airways and Immigration
Authorities at Airport. Hon’ble EAM acknowledged the Dutch role in the evacuation
operation by tweeting “Thank you Netherlands. In the wake of terrorist bombings in
Brussels, we were able to transfer 525 Indians to Amsterdam despite passengers not having
Schengen Visa”. In addition EAM tweeted “J.S. Mukul Indian Ambassador in The Hague and
his team has done a remarkable job in coordination and evacuation of Indian nationals”

 EAM also sent a letter to the Dutch Foreign Minister on 29 March 2016 expressing
gratitude for facilitating travel through the Netherlands of the Indian stranded Brussels
passengers
 The Embassy, through the Gandhi centre, continues to organise functions, cultural
programmes as well as Yoga classes for interested members of the NRI/PIO community
 The Embassy continues to issue short validity passports; emergency certificates; OCI cards;
convert PIO Cards to OCI Cards; repatriation of mortal remains of Indian nationals including
provision of financial assistance from the Indian Community Welfare Fund; assistance with
provision of certificates for opening of Bank accounts; issue of birth certificates, life
certificates etc.; deliver consular services pertaining to attestation of documents, Power of
Attorney etc.
 The VFS centres at The Hague and Rotterdam have opened on May 15, 2016 and the one in
Amsterdam would open on June 6, 2016

BJP is the successor of Bharatiya Jana Sangh founded in 1980. Integral humanism has been its core philosophy and identity since its inception. 2. Narendra Modi, parliamentary leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party started his tenure after his swearing-in as the 15th Prime Minister of India on 26 May 2014.
  • 3. 3 GenderCultural  The Mayors of Amsterdam (Mr. Eberhard van der Laan) and Amstelveen (Ms. M.M. van’t Veld) visited India from 23-28 March 2015. They were accompanied by a delegation of Dutch companies comprising of knowledge and cultural institutions  On 16 April 2015, a Seminar on “Perspective on Contemporary India” was organized by IIAS/Leiden University which was convened by ICCR Chair Prof. P.R. Kanungo. It was attended by experts on Indian affairs from various countries. The seminar was successful as it was understood that India is liberal, open, dynamic and progressive society  India-Netherlands Foreign Office Consultations, Shri Navtej Singh Sarna, Secretary (West), Ministry of External Affairs of India and Ms. Renée Jones-Bos, Secretary-General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands held the India-Netherlands Foreign Office Consultations on 4 May 2015 in The Hague  The Dutch Prime Minister, Mark Rutte paid an official visit to India on 5-6 June 2015 at the invitation of Prime Minister of India. PM Rutte itinerary included official meetings in New Delhi on 5 June and business engagements in Mumbai on 6 June  The electronic Tourist Visa (eTV) facility, extended to the Netherlands w.e.f. August 15, 2015, enables all Dutch passport holders to obtain Indian tourist visas online. Over 12,000 Dutch nationals have availed of the facility till end-April 2016 India’s commitment towards The Netherlands (1/4)
  • 4. 4 GenderCultural  SAIL Amsterdam-2015 was held at Amsterdam from 19-23 August 2015. The Indian Naval Ship ‘Tarangini’ participated at the event which attracted 2.3 million visitors  On September 2, 2015, Ambassador J.S. Mukul presenting credentials to His Majesty Willem-Alexander, King of The Netherlands  On 02 October 2015, Gandhi Jayanti celebration was organized at Peace Palace by Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Foundation in collaboration with the Municipality of The Hague. Prof. Pralay Kanungo, ICCR Chair of Contemporary Indian Studies at Leiden University delivered a talk on Gandhian principles at Gandhi Centre in the evening  Two delegations from the Municipality of The Hague visited India in October 2015 and January 2016 focusing on IT and cyber security, during which several Agreements/MoUs were signed  The European Chapter of ASSOCHAM was opened on 2 December 2015 at Amsterdam, followed by an India Symposium with the theme ‘Make in India’. Ambassador and the Mayor of Amsterdam Mr. Eberhard Edzard van der Laan were the Keynote Speakers at the event which was attended by around 150 persons India’s commitment towards The Netherlands (2/4)
  • 5. 5 GenderCultural  The first ever NASSCOM-DSCI Cyber Security delegation visited The Hague Security Delta from 11-13 April 2016. The delegation, led by Dr. Gulshan Rai, National Cyber Security Coordinator, Government of India, comprised of 39 representatives from the Central and State Governments, industry (security start-ups, SMBs, large IT Services and consulting organizations), user organizations and academia  The Netherlands-India Chamber of Commerce & Trade (NICCT) set up its operations in Mumbai in February 2016  The Embassy organized a Seminar on Indo-Dutch cooperation and Make in India on 2 February 2016. The event was very successful with over 150 participants from Dutch trade and industry, government and trade promotion organizations. Besides Ambassador, other keynote speakers were Mr. R. van Hell, Director for Foreign Economic Relations at the Dutch MFA; Mr. Karsten Klein, Deputy Mayor of The Hague; and Mr. T. Henrar, Chairman of the Board of Management of Tata Steel  The local chapter of Assocham and the Europe India Chamber of Commerce organized an India Symposium titled ‘Logistics for Make in India’ at Rotterdam on 16 March 2015 focusing on the ‘opportunities in the infrastructure sector in India’ and the ‘Indian Budget 2016’. Ambassador and the Mayor of Rotterdam were the keynote speakers at the event with participation of over 100 persons from trade, industry and Government India’s commitment towards The Netherlands (3/4)
  • 6. 6 India’s commitment towards The Netherlands (4/4) Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte visited India with Minister for Foreign Trade & Development, Ms. Lilianne Ploumen, Minister for Agriculture Sharon Dijksma along with senior officials and 80+ companies including Shell, Philips, Unilever, Amsterdam Schipol, the Port of Rotterdam etc. Key Agreements  Manufacturing of dredgers in India at the Cochin Shipyard  Manufacturing of Measles, and Rubella Vaccine in India, with transfer of technology  Leverage Dutch expertise in developing coastal roads and metro lines in India  Set up a Joint Working Group on Skill Development and Counter Terrorism  Set up centres of excellence in areas like horticulture and animal husbandry  Set up a Dutch team for collaboration in the National Clean Ganga Mission  Preserve the fascinating remnants of Dutch heritage in India  Partnering in developing joint pilot projects for an electric vehicle ecosystem in India  Include the Netherlands in India’s Electronic Tourist Visa scheme. This will boost Dutch tourism in India and enhance our people-to-people ties

  • 15. 15 Generation GenderCultural  To mark the Republic Day, Indian Food Festivals were organized by the Embassy in January 2015 & 2016 at Hotel Crowne Plaza, The Hague, in collaboration with the Hotel and India Tourism Office Amsterdam. This helped to create awareness of authentic Indian cuisine prepared by visiting Indian ITDC five-star hotel master chefs  The first International Day of Yoga was celebrated on 21 June 2015 at the Atrium City, Hall of The Hague. Over 600 people from various sections of the society comprising of local Dutch population, Surinami Hindustani community and Indian Diaspora participated in the event with great enthusiasm  An ICCR-sponsored troupe led by well-known Sarod maestro Shri Basant Kabra of Maihar-Senia Gharana visited the Netherlands from 06-10 July 2015. Three successful programmes were organized in the Netherlands during their visit  Holland India Festival 2015 comprising of three components, viz. Film, Dance and Music, was held in October-November 2015. The highlights were participation of the ICCR-sponsored Kathak Dance troupe led by Ms. Sanjukta Sinha in the Indian Dance Festival and the ICCR-sponsored music troupe of flute maestro Pandit Nityanand Haldipur in the Indian Music Festival.   • 16. 16 Generation GenderCultural  A five-member delegation from UP Government , led by Shri Shambhu Singh Yadav, Secretary to Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, visited the Netherlands from 21-24 November 2015 for understanding the planning, construction of cycle tracks in the Netherlands along with Celebration of Constitution Day  An event was organized on 26 November 2015 at the Gandhi Centre (Embassy’s Cultural Centre) to commemorate the Constitution Day. Prof. Pralay Kanungo, ICCR Chair of Contemporary Indian Studies at the Leiden University delivered a lecture on the history and evolution of Constitution of India. Two short documentary films on the subject were also screened on the occasion  Jet Airways has started operating daily non-stop flights from 27 March 2016 to Amsterdam from Mumbai and New Delhi as well as from Toronto  On 14 April 2016, the Embassy celebrated the 125th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B.R.Ambedkar at the Gandhi Centre.   • 17. 17 Generation GenderCultural  On 9 January 2016, Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2016 was organized at the Gandhi Centre. Three Pravasi Bharatiya Samman awardees from the Netherlands, viz.  Deputy Mayor of The Hague Mr. Rabin Baldewsingh,  Mr. Ram Lakhina and  Mr. Wahid Saleh. The keynote address by EAM on the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2016 and two short films on ‘Make in India’ and ‘Incredible India’ were also shown on this occasion  World Hindi Day was organized on 10 January 2016 at the Gandhi Centre in collaboration with the Hindi Parishad Netherlands. The Prime Minister’s message on the occasion was read out by the Ambassador. World Hindi Day was also celebrated in Seminar on Indo- Dutch cooperation and Make in India  On 22 March 2016, the Jet Airways passengers stranded due to Brussels Terrorist Attack were evacuated through transit via Amsterdam Schiphol airport. The Embassy facilitated the travel of Indian nationals in close coordination with Jet Airways and Immigration Authorities at Airport. Hon’ble EAM acknowledged the Dutch role in the evacuation operation by tweeting “Thank you Netherlands. In the wake of terrorist bombings in Brussels, we were able to transfer 525 Indians to Amsterdam despite passengers not having Schengen Visa”. In addition EAM tweeted “J.S. It initially started in USA and UK, now it has branches in more than 40+ countries  Traditionally OFBJP started as a big supporter and sympathizer of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). It evolved in several non profit form in various countries.
