Veld) visited India from 23-28 March 2015. They were accompanied by a delegation of
Dutch companies comprising of knowledge and cultural institutions
On 16 April 2015, a Seminar on “Perspective on Contemporary India” was organized by
IIAS/Leiden University which was convened by ICCR Chair Prof. P.R. Kanungo. It was
attended by experts on Indian affairs from various countries. The seminar was successful
as it was understood that India is liberal, open, dynamic and progressive society

The Dutch Prime Minister, Mark Rutte paid an official visit to India on 5-6 June 2015 at the
invitation of Prime Minister of India. PM Rutte itinerary included official meetings in New
Delhi on 5 June and business engagements in Mumbai on 6 June
The electronic Tourist Visa (eTV) facility, extended to the Netherlands w.e.f. August 15,
2015, enables all Dutch passport holders to obtain Indian tourist visas online. Over 12,000
Dutch nationals have availed of the facility till end-April 2016

Ship ‘Tarangini’ participated at the event which attracted 2.3 million visitors

The first ever NASSCOM-DSCI Cyber Security delegation visited The Hague Security Delta
from 11-13 April 2016. The delegation, led by Dr. Gulshan Rai, National Cyber Security
Coordinator, Government of India, comprised of 39 representatives from the Central and
State Governments, industry (security start-ups, SMBs, large IT Services and consulting
organizations), user organizations and academia
The Netherlands-India Chamber of Commerce & Trade (NICCT) set up its operations in
Mumbai in February 2016
The Embassy organized a Seminar on Indo-Dutch cooperation and Make in India on 2
February 2016. The event was very successful with over 150 participants from Dutch trade
and industry, government and trade promotion organizations. Besides Ambassador, other
keynote speakers were Mr. R. van Hell, Director for Foreign Economic Relations at the

To mark the Republic Day, Indian Food Festivals were organized by the Embassy in
January 2015 & 2016 at Hotel Crowne Plaza, The Hague, in collaboration with the
Hotel and India Tourism Office Amsterdam. This helped to create awareness of
authentic Indian cuisine prepared by visiting Indian ITDC five-star hotel master chefs
The first International Day of Yoga was celebrated on 21 June 2015 at the Atrium City,
Hall of The Hague. Over 600 people from various sections of the society comprising
of local Dutch population, Surinami Hindustani community and Indian Diaspora
participated in the event with great enthusiasm
An ICCR-sponsored troupe led by well-known Sarod maestro Shri Basant Kabra of
Maihar-Senia Gharana visited the Netherlands from 06-10 July 2015. Three successful
programmes were organized in the Netherlands during their visit
Holland India Festival 2015 comprising of three components, viz. Film, Dance and
Music, was held in October-November 2015. The highlights were participation of the
ICCR-sponsored Kathak Dance troupe led by Ms. Sanjukta Sinha in the Indian Dance

evolution of Constitution of India. Two short documentary films on the subject were also

On 14 April 2016, the Embassy celebrated the 125th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B.R.Ambedkar

The keynote address by EAM on the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2016 and two short films on

World Hindi Day was organized on 10 January 2016 at the Gandhi Centre in collaboration
with the Hindi Parishad Netherlands. The Prime Minister’s message on the occasion was
read out by the Ambassador. World Hindi Day was also celebrated in Seminar on Indo-
Dutch cooperation and Make in India
On 22 March 2016, the Jet Airways passengers stranded due to Brussels Terrorist Attack
were evacuated through transit via Amsterdam Schiphol airport. The Embassy facilitated
the travel of Indian nationals in close coordination with Jet Airways and Immigration
Authorities at Airport. Hon’ble EAM acknowledged the Dutch role in the evacuation
operation by tweeting “Thank you Netherlands. In the wake of terrorist bombings in
Brussels, we were able to transfer 525 Indians to Amsterdam despite passengers not having
Schengen Visa”. In addition EAM tweeted “J.S. Mukul Indian Ambassador in The Hague and
his team has done a remarkable job in coordination and evacuation of Indian nationals”

certificates etc.; deliver consular services pertaining to attestation of documents, Power of
