Master of Computer Applications (MCA) is a three-year (six semesters) professional
Master's Degree in computer science awarded in India. The course was considered to
meet the rising demand for qualified professionals in the field of Information Technology.
It is a postgraduate course that can be taken up after obtaining a Bachelor's Degree. The
MCA programme is tending more toward Application Development and thus has more
importance on latest programming language and tools to develop improved and quicker
applications.
What is the objective of the MCA course?
The MCA program prepares students to obtain up positions as system analysts, systems
designers, Programmers and managers in any field related to information technology.
The program, therefore, aims at imparting comprehensive knowledge with equal
emphasis on theory and practice. The MCA students are encouraged to spend a full
semester working in the industry in the institute giving them insight into the workings of
the IT world. However, the course curriculum will have enough flexibility to enable a
student to undertake advance studies in computer science later on.
Define the course structure of MCA?
The course is to be completed in 6 semesters. The first semester will comprise of
common subjects needed to build a base for the subjects for meeting the objectives of the
course. The2nd to 5th semesters will be mostly divided into core subjects and elective,
which offer the student a choice to build expertise in some fields based on personal
choice. The last semester will be devoted to project work testing the students application
in the fields studied so far and provide valuable experience before stepping into the
professional world of Information Technology.

2. What is the eligibility criterion for pursuing MCA?
Usually graduates in any discipline with Mathematics as one of the major subjects in
Senior Secondary School i.e. classes (XI & XII) or above are eligible. Students in the final
year of their graduation are also eligible provided they present the proof of their
finishing graduation by a specified date. Some colleges require 50% aggregate in
graduation. One or two colleges require you to be graduate in Maths.
What is the placement scenario at SIBAR?
Till date, placements are handled at the institute-level or at the central placement level
by Director’s, Dean’s and Placement Co-coordinators of SIBAR as well as STES. However
the project internships allocations and follow-ups with various companies are done by
the Placement Coordinator of SIBAR.
Does SIBAR have separate boy’s & girl’s hostel?
SIBAR has a separate facility for boy’s & girl’s accommodation within the same campus
along with the common mess facility.
What is the fees structure for MCA?
MCA fees is decided by Government of Maharashtra State Level Committee”Shikshan
Shulka Samiti” each year .
