Transition – Change for Fruitfulness and Blessings
Sermon by Rev Ting Moy Hong, Trinity Methodist Church Petaling Jaya (TMCPJ) on 10 Dec 2017.
Scripture Lesson:
Deuteronomy 1.6-8; 4.39-40; 6.4-9
2. Deuteronomy 1
God’s people in transition-
• After 40 years in the wilderness, they were
about to enter the Promised Land
3. Deuteronomy 1
Moses gave these vital instructions to the people:
• Break camp – time to move and take
possession of the promised land
• As God guided, He continues to guide.
See Deut 2.7
• God’s Promise, the basis for the move and
the people’s obedience
4. A Promise to realise, flourishing to savour, blessings
to bask in (see Deut 4,5,6,7) when the people of
God have-
• Faith demonstrated by an exclusive devotion
and loyalty to God
• Exclusive devotion evidenced by obedience
to God’s commands
• Obedience held dear, a precious legacy
passed on to the next generations

12. Here at Trinity Methodist Church PJ:
It’s time to break camp!
In transition, changes are required!
13. The changes –
• A weekend faith to 24-7 faith that involves
wholehearted commitment to Jesus – from worship
styles on Sundays to lifestyles of wholehearted
worship
• Unfamiliarity with the Bible to rootedness in and
loving obedience of God’s Word
• “Privatised faith” to owned and shared faith,
faithfully passed on to the next generations
• Isolated lives to shared communal lives of
obedience and flourishing
14. Our Mission:
• Everyone A disciple, Rooted and Built Up in
Jesus Christ
• Every family discipled for Jesus Christ
• Everyone United in ministry for Jesus Christ
Our Vision:
A Disciple-Making Church
