1. AGAINST ALL ODDS BY PAUL CONNOLLY – PUBLISHED MARCH 2010
Paul Connolly was the last of 8 children to be born into an Irish
Catholic family, but being the 7th
son of the 7th
son, was not going to
be lucky for Paul. Put out with the rubbish at 2 weeks old, when his
mother suffered a breakdown, Paul was about to start a very tough
and unpredictable childhood.
Paul was brought up by nuns in St Vincent’s Convent in North London,
until just before his 8th
birthday. At 8 he had to move to St. Leonards
in East London, this is where things changed very dramatically for Paul
as this particular children’s home was run by a phaedohile ring.
Suffering years of mental and physical abuse, later in life, Paul found
out he was one of the only survivors in his dormitory of 8 boys.
As an angry young man Paul inevitably ended up on the wrong side of
the law. Having nothing to lose and being bullied and abused his
whole life, Paul started to fight back. Surviving being stabbed for the
first time, Paul lost all the fear he had grown up with and after
becoming an amateur boxing champion, he began to use his skills as a
notorious street fighter and doorman. Also coming to the notice of
powerful people, Paul became a sort after bodyguard for the rich and
famous.
The turning point in Paul’s life came when he narrowly escaped a long
prison sentence. Being arrested on 2 counts of GBH (Grievous Bodily
Harm) after being attacked by 5 men, Paul hurt 2 of the men very
badly and after a year and a half of waiting to go to Crown Court and a
long week at court, the jury came back after only 1 hour with a verdict
of not guilty, reasonable force and self defense. The relief of Paul’s
verdict changed him forever, the chips he had on both shoulders, fell
away and the realization that there was some justice in the world and
that everything was not against him. Paul changed that day forever
and 15 years on, has a loving wife, 2 beautiful sons and has and will
never be involved in violence ever again.
2. Today, Paul is a very successful Personal Trainer to the stars. He
worked on the pilots for The Body video with Elle McPherson, after
Pickwick Pictures employed him as the boxing consultant. Paul has also
worked in L.A. and San Fransisco in California and for Le Sport Health
Spa in St Lucia. Now 2010 has brought Paul some very exciting
projects. He has just finished getting Chantelle Houghton (celebrity big
brother winner) in shape for OK and other various magazine shoots.
Paul is currently filming a program called The Wager to be aired in
June 2010 on Channel 4 at prime time. He is the fitness expert on the
show.
Paul’s book “Against All Odds” which took a year to write is now in WH
Smith and available on Amazon etc.
Paul is still extremely passionate about changing people’s lives
everyday after 25 years in our industry, he has watch it evolve to a
level he could never of imagined back in the late 80’s. But what still
holds true today, as much as it did back then, is Paul’s client’s reliance
on his knowledge and passion to help them with their short term and
long term goals. So in 1 day he can be working with athlete’s, kids,
pregnant women, re-habilitating injuries etc. Paul loves to educate
and motivate people with their training, lifestyle and diet.
