1. Mr Paren Patel has worked on ultrasonic grain refinement of the aluminium alloy and die design for
high pressure die cast engine components in summer semester under my supervision. The primary
outcomes through his work developed the fundamental understanding knowledge on interaction of
the ultrasonics and addition of grain refiner Al3Ti1B on the grain structure of the alloy, engineering
calculations and CAD model for die casting gating system and die layout, in particular his
contributions on the ultrasonic grain refinement work has been acknowledged in a paper which will
be submitted to an peer reviewed academic journal soon. Paren has displayed commitment to
excellent, looked for way to improve and promote quality, and showed good attention to detail. He
has also exhibited ability to learn and apply new knowledge and skills, completed assigned tasks
completely and timely, and takes responsibility for own action. Based on his work, I rank him as one
of the outstanding internship students we have ever had.
