1. Move, Learn, Live: poorjames takes you where you want to go
By Pamela Delupio
In 2006, Jason Smith and Doug Hinds seeking travel accessories found themselves
frustrated by mass-produced, unoriginal bags. Compelled by the need for individuality
and function, poorjames emerged, a collection of men's bags and accessories made for the
designers’ fictional nomad, James.
Launching individual collections based on James travels, the signature pieces all cater to
the traveling man with pockets and accessories that adhere to the nomadic lifestyle. Look
for new designs each city James visits.
We want to “push the fashion experience as far as we can; bringing the character of
James to life,” co-creator Jason Smith reveals. The company is endeavoring to
collaborate with movies, novels, and any travel or sporting events that can really make
their pieces stand out in the fashion market.
The design philosophy behind poorjames is simple: move, take risks, dare to be off-
balanced, and strive towards personal growth. Each piece of the collection is designed to
help you make your journey.
"James is just beginning his journey, and who knows what shape he will be in when the
journey is over," Smith promises. "Look closer – James is in the details."
