Why do we celebrate Janmashtami?
Krishna Janmashtami is a special day when we celebrate the birthday of Lord Krishna. He’s a very important and loved god in India. Long ago, there was a king named Kansa, who was not a good king. There was a prophecy that said Kansa would be defeated by his sister Devaki’s eighth son. So, Kansa put Devaki and h
er husband Vasudeva in jail to stop this from happening. Read our more post.
But when their eighth son, Lord Krishna, was born, something amazing occurred. The prison doors opened, and Vasudeva carried baby Krishna safely across a river. Krishna grew up in a Vrindavan ,Where he performed “leelas”. He became famous for being a little mischievous but very lovable.
