2. Biomass Energy
Hydro-electric Energy
Solar Energy
Wind Energy
Geothermal energy
Renewable sources of energy will never run out
and can be used again and again.
3. The wind can make things move. This power is
called wind energy.
In the past people used windmills to make
flour.
Today, big wind turbines work in the same
way, but they use wind to generate electricity.
4. The wind spins the rotor
blades.
The rotor blades
turn the generator ,a machine
inside
the top of the turbine.
As the generator spins, it
makes electricity.
The electricity runs along
power cables to homes and
other buildings.

7. The house has solar
panels on the roof.
■ The sun's light
shines on the panels and
they turn the light into
electricity.
■ The electricity runs
along cables to our houses and
buildings.

10. In the picture we can see a
reservoir and a dam. A dam
is an enormous wall that
can hold the water back.
■ There are gates in the dam
to let the water through.
When these gates are open,
the water rushes fast and
turns machines
that make electricity.

13. The farmer plants the trees
to make fuel
First the farmer cuts the
young trees to make small
wood chips.
These wood chips are burnt
to make steam, which is used to
make electricity.
When the trees are cut
down, the farmer plants new
ones.

15. It is the energy that comes from
the heat of the earth. it is used to
produce steam that turns a turbine
to generate energy.
What is “Geothermal energy?
