- A little bit about me
- Why do I want to talk about JetBrains as a Business? It’s not really usual to talk about this, but indeed JetBrains is a business and an interesting one to talk about.
- Why is this presentation in English? Working language at JetBrains is English as we are international company. And the fonts for Cyrillic on Mac OS X are less fancy.
- “Marketer” term - not so at JetBrains, “User”=”Developer”
- Why are we different? Developers are mostly everywhere - there are actually no “original managers” at JetBrains - everyone used to be a developer - current managers, marketers, etc!
- Some marketing is done by usual principles, but in a different way - we work with a technologically complicated projects, our users are geeks, we are geeks - we need to be creative :) I’ll show some of the pictures
- The very beginning of JetBrains - 2000 year, Prague, a small refactoring tool for Java
- Initially created by 3 developers
- Groups of products - IntelliJ IDEA family, .Net, Server Tools, Languages & language tools
- Recognition by Google - to mention here
- Tell about PM/PMM tasks here a little
- Everyone who actually develop your product will be handling support regarding the relevant subsystem
- We care about your feedback
- The products are solving our own problems
- Very fast releases - EAPs every couple of weeks, 1-2 major release per year, a lot of minor releases. 1 week to get your bug fixed.
- How the products are being developed
- Daily standups, flexible methodologies
- Remote teams
- Different categories of people - developers is a separate one
- No marketing bullshit for developers
- More than 500 user groups are supported by JetBrains
- More than 5000 open source projects are supported by JetBrains
- During the year we exhibit at more than 50 conferences worldwide (not even talking about professional conferences we visit, provide some licenses to raffle or speak there)
- About 30 members of the JetBrains Development Academy helps us spread the best practices
- Example of marketing campaign - 75% OFF Personal Licenses - DoomsDay Sale
- Yes, we crashed all the services, but we were fast to fix it. Than we crashed our service provider.
