benchmark measurement
methods
1. The first method relies on logs from the originating mobile that
indicates the time between pressing the send button on the
handset until the time for reception of the ringback tone
2. The second method calculates the time from call initiation to
answer indication received in the originating UE, minus the
answering time of the terminating user. The latter is defined as
the time between ‘The terminating UE sends Ringing’ and
‘The terminating UE sends Answering’. The signals
corresponding to the answering time have been measured in
the terminating handset.

› Description
– The MSC increase the buffer of Authentication Vectors, to reduce the number of calls where the AV's
needs to be fetched during the call.
– Up to 5 authentication vectors (AVs) can be fetched from the HLR/AuC for a user at a time instead of 1
AV at a time. The AVs are stored in VLR and reused for next coming transactions with the UE in order to
avoid delay from MSC-AuC signaling during the call setup procedure.
– AXE parameters:
› AUTHVECTORREQ for no. of requested AVs from HLR/AuC (1-5) set to “5”
› AVTHRESHOLD for no. of unused AVs in VLR before fetching new AVs (0-5) set to “1”
› Pros
– Reduced CST for authenticated calls with up to 40 ms for both method 1 and 2
– Reduced signaling load between MSC and HLR/AuC
› Cons
– n/a
› Dependencies
– Basic MSC functionality
