FeaturedinAmericanTheatermagazineasanewmodelofplaydevelopmentintheUnited
States,LAUNCHPADbringsplaywrightsofnationalacclaimtoUCSantaBarbarato
developandproducetheirworksidebysidewithstudents,facultyartists,andprofessional
guestartists.Whiletheprogramreceiveditsofficialnamein2010,wehaveadecadelong
historyofproducingnewplaysbydistinguishedplaywrightsincludingLilaRoseKaplan,
BarbaraLebow,SarahRuhl,JamesStill,AlisonTatlock,JohnWalch,SheriWilner,and
BeauWillimon.Ouruniqueprogramprovidesthemissinglinkinplaydevelopmentbetween
readings&workshopsandaprofessionalworldpremiere.Weareproudtosharewithyou
that2014-15wasabanneryearforLAUNCHPAD:TwoplaysdevelopedrighthereatUCSB
receivedtheirprofessionalworldpremiereproductionsatprestigiousregionaltheaters:

Thisyear,wepresentthedarkandhumorousworkofaward-winningplaywrightYussefEl
Guindi.Yussefiswell-knownforhisrazorsharpwitblanketingadeephumanitybeneath
thesurface.TheTalentedOnesstrikesattheheartofwhatitistobeanimmigrantpursuing
“theAmericanDream.”Likehisplays,Yussefapproachescollaborationwithhumorand
generosity.Wehavesoenjoyedhavinghimaspartofourcommunitythesemanymonths.
Whatyouareabouttoseeiscalleda“PreviewProduction.”Eachperformanceisconsidered
apreview.Theplayremainsinrehearsalthroughoutthesevenperformances,allowingthe
playwrightandartisticteamtobeindialoguewiththeaudienceandcontinuedeveloping
theplay.Weinviteyoutoanswerourwrittensurveyincludedwithyourprogramafterthe
