Hi, I’m an interior architect originally from Antwerp, Belgium. I’m excited to share with you my portfolio!
This portfolio contains a summary of works where I had a role during the design process. Not all works nor collaborations are mentioned in this bundle. I tried to keep the imagery as relevant as possible compared with my contribution to these projects. Some projects are not shown because they are still in development and therefore I’m still bound to keeping this information confidential. All projects are presented in an chronological order, from newest to oldest.

When my girlfriend and I moved to
Barcelona, I took the opportunity to try
out some own designs. Instead of buying
or moving a lot of stuff we thought about
the minimal pieces of furniture that we
needed. It looked liked a good idea to
construct these pieces myself so I started
looking for a shared workspace. TMDC.es
had everthing I needed and here I learned
a lot. Looking back, it took me longer then I
thought but it was a great experience. This
project gave me a better understanding of
detailing and construction, I experimented
with CNC & woodworking and along the
way, I fell in love with prototyping.

This project was lead by Kurt Herygers
& Kenn van Overveld. As I joined the
project at a late stage, my responsibilites
were limed. Because my contribution is
rather small compared to the final result, I
choose to show only relevant images.

Überquell brought live to the historic
Riverkasematen. This characterful building
next to the Elbe, was originally built to
store fishermen’s equipment. At a later
stage, when it wasn’t used anymore for its
original porpuse the Beatles even had a
gig in this venue! Today you can find the
best pizza in town with fresh ingredients
and they are pouring even fresher beer!
This microbrewery includes a brewpub,
restaurant with a gigantic terrace, meeting
room and an urban garden.

Based in Antwerp, more specific, right
in the middle of the well-known city
brewery ‘De Koninck’, Kasper Stuart &
Jord Althuizen opened Black Smoke. This
cocktail bar, bbq restaurant & rooftop
have a very strong, industrial character
combined with a refined coziness. A must
visit when you’re staying in Antwerp.

My end product is a combination of a
slim metal frame that is enclosed by high
quality felt. It was a search for elegance
with a minimum of material thickness. The
structure was built with solid steel bars,
diameter 8mm. To accent these slim lines
the structure got powder coated in black.
Around the metal frame a 5mm pure wool
felt is bound tight. The pattern is designed
in a way it can be wrapped around the
structure as a whole. The sides are
connected with a leather shoelace, bound
by a flat knot. Thanks to these simple yet
efficient bindings, it is practical to loosen
the felt, clean it, or replace it.
It was asked to design and develop a
prototype of a chair for our Master’s focus
on furniture design. This assignment was
guided by Fabiaan van Seeveren.

INTRODUCTION
The existing support structure has been
simplified in order to make room for
natural light and open space. The project
includes multiple types of studios, a
public courtyard, a polyvalent retail /
exposition space, a small restaurant, a
private swimming pool and sauna for the
residents, a bed and breakfast which gives
visitors a unique night in Antwerp, a yoga-
practice, a shared kitchen, herbal garden,
laundry room, outdoor kitchen and several
terraces on the roof with great views.
Collective living was the theme of my thesis
2014-2015. There was a selection of four
historic buildings nearby the university.
The old fire station, Paleisstraat Antwerp,
appealed to me the most. I chose to design
this project for young starters, people who
moved out of the parental house and
want to go live independently. I wanted
to use my own experience to develop this
end product. This project is the result of
a search for a healthy balance between
public and private spaces.

INTRODUCTION
An apartment designed for a young couple
on the first floor. My goal was to design a
light and pure environment. Because of
the circulation in the master project, the
shared hallway which offers access to the
apartments is one with a lot of passage. In
order to not have to admit to less daylight
in the dining area, it was decided to use
glass stones. These provide space with a
diffuse light and offer privacy. The lines in
this apartment are strongly present.
