BEFORE VERSUS NOW
▸In the 80’s it was still common to have a single job during your
whole working life
▸In 2018 it’s becoming extremely rare
▸World is moving faster
▸Companies appear and disappear everyday
▸Skills quickly become obsolete
▸Nowadays it’s unrealistic to expect to keep your job longer than
5 years (it still happens but don’t count on it)
3. TEXTE
5 YEARS, WHAT THE FUCK ?
▸If we can only keep our current jobs for 5 years max how the
hell will we:
▸Pay for the house/car/apartment/scooter ?
▸Raise children and pay their food/clothes/studies ?
▸… basically make any kind of long-term plan ?
4. TEXTE
REALISE THAT « SECURE » JOB IS AN
ILLUSION
▸Because it’s simply not as secure as you think. Not for the
40 years that will last your working life.
▸Because if you persist to think so you’ll get way too deep into
your comfort zone
▸… and when you loose that job your pile of cards will
collapse. It will be much harder to find a new one. This is a
common cause of depression or even suicide.

DON’T THINK ABOUT JOBS, THINK
ABOUT A CAREER
▸A single job will never be an end in itself
▸A career is planning to acquire a lot of skills in a domain on
the long term
▸Having demanding skills makes you necessary for the society
▸If you’re necessary for the society you’ll find jobs
▸Try to be smart about choosing a career. Try to think ahead.
Professions appear and disappear everyday.
7. TEXTE
EVOLVE EVERYDAY
▸Whatever your skills are today it won’t be sufficient in 5 or 10
years
▸Learning new things and adapting to changing environment
is key
8. TEXTE
BE CRITICAL ABOUT YOUR CURRENT
JOB AND YOUR CAREER
▸Does your current allow you to evolve ? Do you have the
opportunity to learn new things ? Is it fulfilling ? Won’t it make
you too specialised in a one-company-only job ?
▸If no maybe you should consider trying to get another one.
▸Is your career still needed in this world ? Will it still be needed
tomorrow ?
▸If no maybe you should consider to change it, preferably in
advance and to something where you can re-use your skills
10. I CAN HAZ
BOTH LONG
AND SHORT?
NO ! THEY ARE OPPOSITE
ATTITUDES AND MINDSET.
11. TEXTE
LET’S TAKE AN EXAMPLE
▸You are in job since quite a time, try to evaluate the situation and
notice there are multiple disadvantages to it:
▸You’re doing the same thing everyday (you are in your comfort
zone)
▸You don’t have the possibility to learn anything new (you can’t
make internal moves in the company)
▸It’s not a fulfilling job anymore
▸The skills used to perform it could not be re-usable in the future
(less and less people are hired to do that in other companies)
