Nicolas Saugnac served as marketing intern for Swiftsure Yacht from September 1st, 2014 until
June 30th, 2015. As president and broker at Swiftsure Yachts, I was his supervisor and worked
closely with him each day. Swiftsure Yachts Inc. is a yacht brokerage and service company
based in Seattle and engaged in worldwide yacht sales.
Nicolas showed strong initiative and perseverance by seeking out this internship and during the
year with our firm. He quickly learned our mission, values, and systems to become a
contributing member of our small team of brokers and support staff. He easily managed the
transition from school in Europe to living and working in Seattle. Nicolas even taught skiing and
joined the crew of a local racing sailboat while here.
During the year he demonstrated excellent computer skills and fluency with many different
software programs including MS Excel, Adobe Premiere, MS Powerpoint, and Google Analytics.
He proved invaluable with our transition to a new Wordpress website platform and was very
involved with the design, content, implementation, and evaluation of this website. He also
made significant contributions and updates to our overall graphics and sales material portfolio.
He pushed Swiftsure Yachts to employ new resources such as spherical photography and photo
constellations to provide virtual tours of our listings. He exploited low cost social media and
internet venues to promulgate our image and exposure.
I was also impressed by Nicolas’ ability to interact with clients and vendors. He worked at three
different boat shows including a major yachting show in Miami. His maturity and worldliness
impressed customers and colleagues. He showed great perception about how specific products
might appeal to certain clients and how best to market this products.
As a small firm who has never had an intern, I was uncertain about how this internship would
work out. Nicolas provided us with more contributions than we expected. I’m skeptical if we
would be so lucky to find another intern with such strong skills, good attitude, and willingness
to work hard.
