Social media marketing tips abuse and misuse
1. Social Media Marketing Tips: Abuse and
Misuse
Not everyone is a huge FAN of Facebook Stalking! Social Media Stalking consists of annoying
Drive-by links, Facebook Wall Spam, inappropriate and excessive photo tagging, and inbox
messages the length of a novel. Instead of building interest, you create the opposite effect –
resistance!
These are tell-tell signs your social media marketing campaign experiences little growth,
generates little to no revenue and you are an amateur marketer. Stop telling on yourself!
If it’s obvious to ME, it is apparent to your potential readers. It’s also a personal theory of mines
“Residue of Faulty Belief Systems” that individuals who opt for marketing strategies of this
nature have a underlining fear of rejection.
This fear paralyzes their approach to engage, dialogue and talk their way to book sales via
conversation.
Authors marketing to other Authors:
• It reveals you are absolutely clueless on where to locate target market and ideal readers
• Lack of data, information, to understand your readers. Do you wish to change this?
• Clearly lacks an effective book marketing strategy – Would you like one?
Why are drive-by links, even if it is your book, considered spam?
Besides the fact, it’s an amateur marketing practice:
• Your message to readers holds %0 relevance
• Invites judging your book by its cover – At least post and excerpt or testimonial!
• Requires 0% investment of time or mental energy to produce
• It contributes to a greater problem of “Social Media Pollution” instead of posing a
solution
• It decreases the quality of the networking groups, online communities and interrupts
valuable discussions
• It reveals your ulterior motive is only to make a sale which builds an iron curtain between
you, your book and potential readers. #Congratulations!
2. Use Social Media to Give Your Author Brand a Boost:
Instead of slapping your book around haphazardly, my recommendations are to market your
author personality instead. This in return will give your brand as an Author a boost.
• Practice developing your distinction and cultivating uniqueness amongst other Authors
• Strive to be likeable, sincere, engaging, attentive, a sense of humor, and/or
resourcefulness as a catalyst for generating personal connections which inevitably lead to
book sales
• The name of the game is building personal connections, develop trust, gain respect, build
credibility and make book sales!
