3. Job Description:
Senior Pastor – New Vision Church
• The Senior Pastor will be a man called of God and committed to the
gospel ministry, evangelical in theology, and committed to living
and serving in a manner consistent with the standards set forth in
Scripture for such a leader. The Senior Pastor must be a man who
exemplifies a Godly character, is compassionate in recognizing and
meeting the needs of others, and demonstrates a high level of
competence.
• The Senior Pastor will be called by the Holy Spirit
• The Senior Pastor will equip, educate, and edify the church as
mandated in Ephesians 4:11-13.
• The Senior Pastor will lead and serve in accord with the
expectations set forth in 1 Peter 5:1-3.
• The Senior Pastor will exercise biblical authority and carry out a
Christian witness as set forth in 2 Timothy 4:1-5
4. Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree from a Bible College or
Seminary is preferable
• Five or more years of service in church
ministry with some preaching experience
• Experience supervising pastoral and
administrative staff is preferable
• Ability to handle and maintain confidential
and sensitive information
5. PROVIDE SPIRITUAL LEADERSHIP
• Primary preaching pastor able to effectively
communicate Bible based principles intent on reaching
the lost and to spiritually grow the congregation
• Works with the pastoral and administrative staff to
develop a meaningful weekend service experience
• Constantly seeks excellence
• Encourages stewardship and world mission support
• Understands and demonstrates the principles of church
growth and evangelism that relate to the overall vision
and mission of New Vision church
6. PROVIDE PASTORAL LEADERSHIP
• Voting member of the Elder Board and
responsible for the oversight and shepherding of
the congregation
• Participate in the development of the goals of the
church
• Coach, train, and develop the pastoral and
administrative staff in their professional and
spiritual life
• Provide counseling to church members
• Visit church members
7. PROVIDE OUTREACH LEADERSHIP
• Lead the congregation in reaching out to our
neighborhood, the local community, and the
world for the purpose of bringing more people
to know Jesus Christ
• Develop strategy and programs which will be
deployed in the outreach ministries
• Maintain contact with all supported church
missions efforts
8. PROVIDE ADMINISTRATIVE
LEADERSHIP
• Supervise and evaluate the pastoral and administrative staff
• Oversee the screening and hiring of non-ordained staff and calling
of ordained staff
• Participate in the development of operational plans and budgets to
support the mission and goals of the church
• Build a sense of teamwork among church staff and effectively work
with the staff to coordinate the ministries of the church.
• Able to demonstrate knowledge of church operation, and to
develop, revise, and implement policies and procedures that relate
to the specific areas of ministry for which responsible
• Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with other
people
