Dr. Neal Mazer on Pact Family Camp 2013
A psychiatrist in Santa Barbara, California, Neal Mazer, MD, MPH, works
with children and adolescents coping with a variety of behavioral and
emotional conditions. Dr. Neal Mazer also devotes some of his time to
charity and has served on the boards of such non-profit groups as Pact.
For more than two decades, Pact has served adopted children of color,
offering placement services as well as education and support for these
children and their families. The organization prides itself on providing a
community in which all parties can broach such difficult subjects as
adoption, race, and birth heritage. To help facilitate these types of
conversations, Pact holds an annual Pact Family Camp.
In 2013, this fun and meaningful event will take place in Tahoe City,
California, over the course of four days in July. Through this camp,
children and families participate in programming together and with
their own age groups. While children and teenagers enjoy a variety of
multicultural, recreational activities, parents attend daily workshops
and discussion groups focused on adoption, race, and parenting. For
more information about Pact, visit www.pactadopt.org.
