2. Murray Stephens is a retired Olympic
swimming coach and co-founder of the North
Baltimore Aquatic Club. During Murray
Stephens’s coaching career, he led three
different swimmers to gold medal victories in
the Olympics. The current coach at NBAQ is
Bob Bowman, who has coached for 28 years
and has helped a number of Olympic
swimmers earn gold medals. He recently
offered tips on not only success in swimming,
but also business and life in general.
3. - Abandon a uniform approach and understand
that each swimmer responds differently to types
of motivational frameworks.
-Determine an individual gold standard. Do not
be concerned with what competitors are doing,
but rather with individual benchmarks for
success.
-Never stop developing. Learn from mistakes,
analyze where changes need to be made, and
never underestimate the importance of
experience.
4. -Accept daily challenges. In any form of
competition, daily challenges exist, some of
which are behind the scenes. Success brings
more problems, and learning how to
overcome them is crucial in order to maintain
success.
