MEMORANDUM FOR RECORD
SUBJECT: Letter of Recommendation for SPC Mulugeta Brtu
1. I strongly recommend SPC Mulugeta Brtu for acceptance into your organization.
2. SPC Brtu has demonstrated distinguished service that greatly benefited the Maryland
National Guard. I had the distinct honor of serving as his Battalion Commander for two
years.
3. SPC Brtu’s performance as a member of my Personal Security Detail consisting of 16
Soldiers, and as the technical expert for a crew of 5 Soldiers, while in a combat
environment was nothing short of stellar. He successfully executed over 170 combat
patrols in some of the most dangerous places in Afghanistan. Even with that
overwhelming responsibility, he still found time to develop other Soldiers with training,
education, and physical fitness while maintaining over $500,000 in military equipment.
4. I relied heavily on his experience and judgment pertaining to all technical aspects of
troubleshooting problems with exceptional results. SPC Brtu has been a huge asset to
the Maryland Army National Guard, and I have no doubt his experience,
professionalism, and service is deserving of a position with significant responsibility.
