Industry disasters come with a huge price, we don't know who will be the next victim of these catastrophic. Tried to explain the main factors behind it. need to established an international forum to prevent these massive disaster.

The world waiting for another industrial catastrophic
1. THE WORLD WAITING
FOR ANOTHER
INDUSTRIAL
CATASTROPHIC
I N F L U E N C E W I T H B E I R U T D I S A S T E R
2. • It may be near to you and bomb is ticking and waiting for men made disaster. We human beings
inviting these disaster because of negligence and not reporting any incident about industrial
mismanagement.
• A recent Beirut incident shock the whole world, more than 100 people dead and 4000 people got
injured in this catastrophic. But question still in our minds, what another catastrophic waiting
for and how many people lose their precious life just because of other faults.
• Industrial safety procedures already in place to protect people’s life, but ignoring safety
procedures, it will lead to men made catastrophic. Which we seen in many occasions, Lebanon
catastrophic can be avoid if authorities took action against of abandoned ammonium nitrate
stocks. It looks like a another Hiroshima and Nagasaki after bombing.
3. WORLD MOST MAJOR INDUSTRIAL
CATASTROPHIC
OPPAU EXPLOSION, GERMANY
This incident took place in 21 September 1921 in BASF chemical plant, approximately 4,500
tonnes of a mixture of ammonium sulfate and ammonium nitrate fertilizer stored, got exploded
and more than 600 people died and 4000 people got injury. Industrial investigation report said
incident took place because of not maintaining industrial safety measures.
4. THE DISASTER OF COURRIÈRES (FRANCE)
March 10th, 1906 is the date of the worst mining accident ever happened in Europe: in
the French town of Courrières an explosion of the local coal mine caused the death of
1099 people. One of the hypothesized causes was the ignition of methane for the
presence of a naked flame. This incident investigation leads to not following safety
standards.
5. THE EXPLOSION OF BENXIHU COLLIERY
(CHINA)
On April 26th, 1942, in the coal mine of Benxi, China, an explosion of gas and coal powders caused
the death of 1549 miners. Only few were killed by the explosion itself, while most suffocated
because of the consequent shutdown of the ventilation system. Safety standards not following is
one of the main reason behind of it.
6. BHOPAL ACCIDENT, INDIA
• On December 3rd, 1984, over 40 tons of Methyl Isocyanate leaked from the Union
Carbide India Limited (UCIL) plant in Bhopal, India. The causes of the disaster were
attributed to the negligence and the inadequate industrial safety measures adopted by
the staff. The effects of toxic gas are still felt today, as malformations and dysfunction in
newborns and diseases among the population. killed more than 15,000 people and affected over
600,000 workers.
7. THE DEEPWATER HORIZON OIL
DISASTER
The worst environmental disaster in American history: on April 20th, 2010, the Deepwater
Horizon oil platform, part of the British Petroleum group, was drilling the Macondo Prospect
off the Louisiana coast. An explosion on the platform killed 11 people while 17 were injured.
The consequent oil spill lasted for 106 days, bearing serious consequences for marine life and
local population’s health. BP cost is in excess of 62 billion dollars.
8. THE CHERNOBYL DISASTER
(UKRAINE)
The last industrial accident we list is the most famous one. On April 26th, 1986, a human error
(together with structural problems of the system) caused a series of explosions inside the
Chernobyl nuclear power plant that destroyed the reactor and annexed buildings, causing the
release of a radioactive cloud. 43 workers died immediately, about 125,000 people were killed
in the following years by cancer or other illnesses caused by radiation exposure, thousands of
Ukrainians were forced to move. Chernobyl is also the most expensive industrial accident ever, as
its total economic impact is estimated in about 200 billion dollars.
9. INDUSTRIAL ACCIDENT REASONS
Country Condition
Without destruction no development and it’s a difficult task to maintain integrity in industrial
development. When we talk about developing and underdeveloped countries, they provide man
facilities to investors otherwise, otherwise investors will pool back their investments. So some
ignorance factor allowing to setup any industrial plant in particular countries.
10. MANAGEMENT
It’s depend upon management thinking how to operate their respective industry. Industry safety
standard need an investment to carry out any safety operations. But as we know management
people are looking for cost reducing option, and not spending money on safety measures really
impact to safety of the people.
11. BRIBERY & CORRUPTION
Waste management is expensive process and huge investments are required for disposal. For
saving that money industries dump their untreated waste in river or land. Local authorities are in
charge of this to forcefully apply these laws on industries. If authorities not perform their duties
and responsibilities lead to disaster.
12. EMPLOYMENT
Industries are the main source for employee generation, without industry development employee
generation is difficult task. Government can’t provide jobs to everyone, it should be go through a
different mode of employment. Industry creates more than a 40% employment in the world. These
are main factors behind of any catastrophic reasons, not following safety measures and profit
oriented approach leads to men made disaster.
13.
14. • Don’t give reason to support any wrong thing it’s become habit for anyone.
Industrial development really need for any countries, but giving leniency on
safety measures with justification leads to a different dimensions. Countries
have to change their industrial policies to protect integrity and peoples lives.
These catastrophic comes with massive impact, economy will go down and
peoples lost lives. Billions of rupees have to spend to clear these kind of mess,
as we seen in man industrial accidents.
• Industrial development policies should be revised with more accountability
and responsibility. Laws and regulation should be revised on this kind of
negligence. An international forum should be introduced to tackle this kind of
issue in future, so accused business man will not run away from justice.
