3. BACKGROUND:
• Shahdadkot was founded around 1713.
• The Indian British government made Shahdadkot a taluka of Upper
Sindh Frontier Jacobabad District in 1883-843. Later on, after
independence, Kamber and Shahdadkot both remained talukas of
District Larkana
• The government of Pakistan bifurcated Larkana forming a new
district called Kamber Shahdadkot in 2005
• The district is witness to the countless anecdotes of historical value.

4. GEOGRAPHY & CLIMATE :
• It is situated at the border of Sindh and Balochistan at the north west of Sindh.
• The total area of Shahdadkot is 398 Km2.
• In summer, temperature raises upto 52 °C (126 °F).
• It is situated along Ratodero & Guwadar High Way.
• Kotoo Motoo chowk is the center of the town.

• Total population of Shahdadkot is 202745.
• The population density of Shahdadkot is 509.3/km²

In Shahdadkot Muslims are in the majority but has groups of some
other religions.

• Sindhi: 98.15%

7. PERSONALITIES :
• Khanbahadur Pir Bux Khan Khuhawar -I (1858):The Great developer
of Shahdadkot.
• Khuwaja Mian Ghulam Siddique Mekan (1844-1905): The Great
Religious Scholar.
• Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto (1928-1979): The First elected Prime Minister of
Pakistan.
• Mohtarma Benazair Bhutto (1953-2007): The first female prime
minister of a Muslim nation.
• Dr. Muhammad Yar Khuhawar (1948): The World ranked Scientist and
Scholar
8. ADMINISTRATIVE STRUCTURE :
The present MPA of this town is Nadir Magsi appointed in 2008 General Elections and
consecutively in 2013. Sultan Ahmed Khuhawar was the MPA elected in the year of
2002 General Elections under the regime of Musharraf when most of the PPP
candidates were in exile. It has 6 Union Councils 8 Tapas and 39 Dehs
9. NATURAL RESOURCES & ECONOMY :
• Shahdadkot is the second largest rice market in Sindh province.
• More than 50 Rice Husking Mills are situated within local limits.
• Main crops are rice and wheat, the indigenous vegetables are also cultivated.
• Other important Agricultural Products are Sugarcane, Pulses, Maize, Oil Seeds,
Mutton and Poultry.

10. SHAHDADKOT TEXTILE MILL :
• The Shahdadkot Textile Mills was situated in the north of Shahdadkot City.
• The mill was established in 1974 under the orders of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, then prime
minister of Pakistan.
• The mill was started in 1978.
• The mill produced export quality cloth.
• OnJuly 8, 2007 because of political and economic crisis, the mills and the industry in
the district suffered and its infrastructure was sold for a petty amount.
• Now it wears a deserted look.
11. EDUCATION :
• There are Five Government Colleges.
• There are 20 Private and Government Schools.
• Shah Abdul Latif University.
• Agha Khan University Hospital.

12. CATASTROPHES FROM THE PAST :
• Shahdadkot faced a serious flood threat in 2007, following a breach in a drain near
Bagho Pul.
• The floodwater was coming from Qubo Saeed Khan and Dost Ali.
• People who had moved out of the flood-affected areas of Shahdadkot and taken
shelter along the Motorway, are braving scorching sun and waiting for relief.
• Rural area of Shahdadkot was badly affected by the great flood in 2010
• The town was saved with the joint efforts of local inhabitants and pakistan army.

13. CONCLUSION :
Shahdadkot is one the deprived and underserved area of Sindh. Government does
not pay attention towards this area as it requires. If serious attention is given
towards its planning , mobility and utilities then this area could become one of the
major cities of the province and could become more developed and stable. It can
also become a major trade route as it is connected with Ratodero Gwadar
Motorway knowing the fact that it has the second largest rice market of Sindh.
