To Whom It May Concern:
This letter is to recognize the work of Mo Yang, who interned with the Asian Economic Development
Association (AEDA) during his Spring 2013 semester at the University of Minnesota to conduct the
Business Resources Mapping Project. The Business Resources Mapping Project mapped community,
bank and government resources available to support small businesses in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul
metropolitan region, and documented the variant practices of working with diverse communities by the
resources. Mr. Yang was a member of a six person team for this project.
Mr. Yang’s activities as an intern with AEDA included:
 Actively participating in a four hour orientation and training for in the Business Resources
Mapping Project.
 Working as a team to research and build a list of the variety of resources available to small
businesses in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul metropolitan region.
 With the intern team, pre-tested accuracy, reliability, and order of interview questions that
would be used with each business resource to collect the necessary information for mapping.
 Contacted business resources via phone and email to schedule survey interview appointments
or solicit completion of questions via electronic survey form.
 Followed strict protocol and process in data collection.
As a result of Mr. Yang’s contributions with the intern team, AEDA was able to contact a total of 30
community, bank and government resources serving small businesses. The information collected will be
aggregated and analyzed to understand the readiness of the business resources to serve Asian
community members, advocate for resources that will increase capacity of business resources to serve
Asian communities, and develop collaborations between Asian serving organizations and business
resources to bridge current gaps, if existing.
If you would like further information, you may contact me at (651) 222-7798 or joohee@aeda-mn.org.
Sincerely,
Joo-Hee Pomplun
