TEACHING EXPERIENCE
2009—2015 Teaching Assistant, Simon Fraser University
• Designed and taught introductory literature and composition classes, including six
sections of English 201: Medieval Literature, four sections of English 103:
Introduction to Drama, three sections of English 101: Introduction to Fiction and
English 102: Introduction to Poetry, and one section of English 199: Introduction
to University Writing.
• Met with students for each major paper assignment to discuss individual goals,
concerns and progress.
2. • Taught the importance of conducting research and to critically evaluate the
quality of sources.
• Evaluated student writing and provided guidance to students writing and
researching term papers.
• Worked with a diverse group of students, including many international students
and ESL students, and developed strategies for responding effectively to a wide
range of writing abilities.
• Encouraged students to develop writing goals and then work to tailor each
assignment to these goals.
• Used online management systems such as Canvas to organize content and
communicate with students outside of class and office hours to encourage clarity
and transparency.
