Nine Ohio Cities Earn Top 10 Recognition in Different Categories, More Than Any State
COLUMBUS – For the second consecutive year, Ohio has earned the number two spot in both
the overall rankings and per capita rankings in Site Selection magazine’s Governor’s Cup.
Ohio’s 582 projects were cited as the reason for the high ranking.
“Our consistent high ranking shows that more job creators are learning what we have known all
along, Ohio is a premier place to live, work and do business,” said JobsOhio President and
Chief Investment Officer John Minor. “With assistance from our Regional Network partners,
Ohio has sustained a level of confidence and growth that is essential to attracting jobs and
investment.”
Ohio ranked first overall in the East North Central Region, and its Metropolitans and
Micropolitans shined in the rankings with nine communities placing in the top 10 in different
categories – more than any other state.
Cincinnati and Columbus were ranked in the Top 10 Metro Areas with a population over 1
million for new and expanded corporate facilities in 2014. Dayton, Akron and Toledo placed in
the Top 10 Metro Areas with populations between 200,000 to 1 million. Findlay was named the
number one overall Micropolitan – a city of 10,000 to 50,000 people – directly followed by New
Philadelphia, with Wooster and Ashland also placing in the top 10.
Site Selection has awarded the Governor’s Cup annually since 1978 to the U.S. state with the
most new and expanded corporate facilities as tracked by Conway Data Inc.'s New Plant
Database. For more information about Site Selection magazine’s other annual awards, and to
