2. Section A: Directed Writing
[35 marks]
Every student in your school must be actively involved in three different co-curricular activities
after school hours. As the Head Prefect of your school, you are asked to write a report to the
Principal about students’ views on co-curricular activities. Use the following notes to write your
report:
Co-curricular activities favoured by most students:
1 English Language Society
2 St. John’s Ambulance
3 Badminton Club
Common problems faced by students due to co-curricular activities:
1 Have to miss tuition
2 Transport problem
3 No time to do homework
4 Too tired to revise at night
Complaints by students:
1 Poor leadership of the club, society or uniformed unit
2 Action not taken against the absentees
3 A few teacher advisors have less experience
Suggestions by students:
1 Students choose only one co-curricular activity
2 Students can change club, society or uniformed unit as they wish
When writing the report, you must remember:
1- to address your report to the Principal
1- to give a suitable title
2- to use all the points given

Write a composition of about 350 words on one of the following topics:
1 Describe an interesting recreational spot in your hometown.
2 Should Facebook be banned among teenagers? Discuss.
3 How teenagers handle stress.
4 Write a story beginning with: “The weather had been very hot lately...”
