The Fantasy World Map
Author’s Statement:
I decided to write about the Fantasy World Map that was created by Den Meth because I found it
to be an interesting concept of all the literary and even some video game worlds could be
combined on one big map. With this document I will be conversing or explaining a few of these
lands that I am more familiar with so that I can give detailed navigation towards would be
explorers. My intended audience is my peers as well as my professor or anyone who is interested
in the fantasy world that can only be viewed by films, video games, and novels. My rhetorical
appeals was ethos to express credibility of the information and facts that I will be discussing
based on my map. As well as logos to give detailed information on these four countries that I
have chosen to describe and explain their history based on the books or films they were featured
in. The mode is visual since it is a map, though the media is digital since it would be hard press
to find an actual fantasy world map in print form.
Welcome to the Traveler’s Guide to the Fantasy World, volume one, where we will
explain a few different countries on our journey throughout the wonderful Fantasy world. Please
keep in mind that this is an informational guide not a fully detailed traveler’s map book, if you
need a detail travel map please see your nearest Travel station. Also if you wish to know more
about certain countries there will be a list of need to know book in the back pages of this travel
guide. Please enjoy and hope you find these countries worth visiting after you have read this
guide.
The Land of Oz, is a fantasy region containing four lands under the rule of one monarch,
it was first discovered in 1900 by L. Frank Baum who sought to create a country where the four
lands could live in harmony. The Land of Oz is a fairy country that has a flag that is divided in to
four colors (purple, blue, yellow, and red) with a green star in the center. The most notable
locations in Oz is the Emerald City where the Great and Powerful Oz resides, Munchkin Country
where the munchkins live their daily lives, and the ever so famous Yellow Brick road which
stretches all throughout the four countries in the Land of Oz. Oz is a rough triangle shape country
that is divide as stated before into four lands, to the East there lies the Munchkin country, to the
West the Winkie Country stays, down to the South there is the Qaudling Country, and to the
North is the Gillikin Country. In the middle of these four lands is the fabled Emerald City which
is the Land of Oz’s capital that is ruled by one monarch by the name of Princess Ozma. The
regions have a color schema: blue for Munchkins, yellow for Winkies, red for Quadlings, green
for the Emerald city, and purple for the Gillikins. This is merely the favorite color, used for
clothing and other man-made objects, and it also has some influence on their choice of crops, but
the basic colors of the world are natural colors. Oz is completely surrounded on all four sides by
a desert, which insulates the citizens of Oz from discovery and invasion. This is merely a desert,
with only its extent to make it dangerous to the traveler. While you’re in the Land of Oz you
must be mindful of the four witches of Oz, there are two good (North and South) and two bad
(East and West). The good witches are Glinda the Good Witch of the South who rules over the
Quadlings, and Locasta the Good Witch of the North (also known as Tattypoo) who rules over
the Gillikins. The bad witches are Momba the Wicked Witch of the West (also known as
Theodora to some) who rules over the Winkies, and Gingema the Wicked Witch of the East (also
known as Evanora) who rules over the Munchkins. So be careful when you are crossing the four
lands just in case you meet Momba and Gingema.
If you have managed to cross the desert and haven’t died yet you might find yourself in
the country of Narnia whose is home to many Ethnic groups such as Telmarines, Dwarfs, Giants,
Faun, Nymphs ect. Narnia was discovered in 1949 by grand explorer C.S. Lewis and had
discovered at least several lands that were a part of the country of Narnia. The government of
Narnia is a Monarchy and there are four titles that are usually filled throughout the land. There is
the King/Queen of Narnia, the Emperor/Empress of Lone Islands & Dragon Island, Lord/Lady of
Cair Paravel, and Lord/Lady of Telmar. Narnia is a land of rolling hills rising to low mountains
in the south. It is predominantly forested except for marshlands in the north. The country is
bordered on the east by the Eastern Ocean, on the west by a great mountain range, on the north
by the River Shribble, and on the south by Archenland. The flag of Narnia is leaf green with a
red lion facing left seeming to be clawing the air, this symbol is also the Coat of Arms for
Narnia. According to legend, Narnia was created by the great lion, Aslan, and filled it with
talking animals and mythical creatures so that they may live in peace. Time in Narnia seems to
go much longer so you could spend years there growing old and such but once you step out of
Narnia is would seem like only minutes or so passed from your time being there. So be very
careful on how long you spend in the country of Narnia because you never know when you’ll
end up at.
Now if you have been able to catch a boat from Cair Paravel, you might find yourself on
your way to Lilliput which is located off the cape of Narnia. Lilliput was discovered by a man
named Jonathan Swift who discovered the island in 1726 along with its neighboring island
Blefuscu after being swept ashore from a ship wreck. Lilliput has monarchy who rules over the
Lilliputians in the Capital Mildendo. Now before you go you must acknowledge that the
Lilliputians are about one-twelfth the height of an ordinary human being, unless you have some
shrinking mushrooms from Wonderland which is a neighboring country to Narnia you might find
it hard to stay there. Some need to know facts is that the Emperor of Lilliput is named Golbasto
Momarem Evlame Gurdilo Shefin Mully Ully Gue which is assisted by a first minister who
carries a white staff and several other officials. Also one thing you should be careful of, if you
happened to make yourself small and have a chance to enjoy breakfast with some of the
Lilliputians be careful of which end you break your hard-boiled egg. As funny as it seems the
Lilliputians have even gone through a war dealing with people who prefer to crack open their
hard-boiled eggs on the big end against people who break their hard boiled eggs on the small
end. Due to their religion which is teachings by the prophet Lustrog, it is said that an egg should
be broken on the convenient end, which now due to the monarchy who has control over the
country, stands for breaking of the smaller end. Just be careful or else you might find yourself in
a lot of trouble from the Lilliputians and they might think you are a Blefuscudian their sworn
enemy from the Kingdom of Blefuscu.
If you find yourself back on a boat after your trip from Lilliput and having passed Solla
Sollew, not wanting to deal with their key-slapping slippard who doesn’t allow even the
doorman to let anyone in, you might find yourself landing off the shores of in Terabithia.
Terabithia was discovered by Katherine Paterson in 1977 while traveling with her son David.
Terabithia is ruled by King Jesse Aarons Jr. and Queen Leslie Burke who has brought peace to
the land since its discovery, their motto is “Nothing Crushes Us”. You must be careful when you
travel the land of Terabithia for there are creatures such as squolgers who beeps at people loudly
when they see others, trolls who are often misunderstood creatures and can be very kind if given
the chance, and the dark master who is of relation to the king. Other than that Terabithia is
mostly a forested kingdom where creatures can live in harmony, which is much like Narnia
though don’t get Terabithia confused for Narnia’s Terebinthia.
Hopefully you have enjoyed the very few countries that we have visited, if you like
please grab the second volume of the Traveler’s Guide to the Fantasy World in a store nearest
you and remember be wary of Squolgers and the Wicked Witches of Oz. Next time we will talk
about Moomin Valley and Middle earth and how one cannot simply walk to Modor. Also if you
have enjoyed our collection of the Traveler’s Guide to Fantasy World you might also like pick
up a copy of Hyrule’s Guide to the Triforce and How to Care for your Dinosaur: Dinotopia
Edition.
