Issues Discussed In Assignment 4
According to the case study previously discussed, many
problems have been identified. The first problem is the lack of
support from teachers, parents and school administrators on the
full adoption of the education standards. The goals of education
standards aimed to be implemented faced severe challenges,
making it hard for the adoption to become successful. First, it
should be noted that the education standards were aimed at
establishing a single set of education for the learners who were
present in the k-12 learning. The government's education
standards were designed to enable the state schools to be more
eligible for the federal funding of the school. There are
numerous ways in which this problem can be solved (Pak et al,
2020). First, there should be more accountability from the
teachers. This will enable the teachers to be serious with
teaching. Secondly, parents should be involved in the learning
of the children. Thirdly, new technologies can be adopted to
improve the education standards and lastly, the curriculum can
be revised, raising the education standards.
The second challenge that is experienced is the different
learning and comprehensive abilities of the learners. Different
learners in school have different learning capabilities, which
can affect how the students grasp the content which has been
taught in class. More education specialist has been investigating
this matter, and a solution has not been found. However, the
educational professionals can provide appropriate
recommendations on how the syllabus can be improved. Also,
the teachers can be taught the appropriate teaching methods that
will enable them to teach the students in a much better and
comprehensive manner (Whitney, 2017). Another better way in
which this challenge can be solved is through the use of
appropriate technologies. New technologies can improve how
the students and the learners interact in the class. The new
technologies should be incorporated into the new learning
curriculum, and this will be able to monitor how the students
grasp the content taught in class. This strategy will highly
benefit the students who might have low abilities to grasp the
content taught in the classroom.
Education standards have been known to be both negative and
positive. Therefore, the education stakeholders, school
administrators, learners and teachers should be fully aware of
these educational standards before setting them. Also, the
teachers and the school administrators should provide coherence
and consistency when the new learning standards have been
implemented (Bakken et al., 2017). It should be noted that only
expert and qualified education experts should develop these
standards by undertaking appropriate needs that will benefit the
learners and the students. More so, the adoption of the new
learning standards should be set when everything needed has
been implemented, and nothing will hinder the education system
in achieving the new guidelines on the education standards that
will have a positive impact on the students and the education
system.

Observation Assignment Part 111
Purpose: To give students an opportunity to apply concepts
from this course to real life. Seven stages of life will be
observed: infants, early childhood, middle and late childhood,
adolescents, early adulthood, middle adulthood, and late
adulthood.
Course Objectives Addressed: One, two, and three
TotalPoints300:
Part 1 Paper = 70 points
Part 2 Paper = 70 points
Part 3 Paper = 70 points
Observation Feedback Paper Part 1, 2, and 3 = 50 points
Directions: Students will observe each stage of life for at least
20 minutes. The location may be a public space, or a personal
space related to the student (home, dormitory, apartment, etc.)
(See Rule 3). Students will then fill out the questionnaire
associated with that stage of life. Answers must be well thought
out and in complete sentences.
Rules
1. Each stage of life must be observed for at least 20 minutes.
You can certainly observe for more time if you would like.
2. You may to interact with the people that you are observing.
3. If a stage of life is difficult to locate, then a media clip (of at
least 20 minutes) may be chosen instead. You must include a
reference to the clip. Media options include movies, tv shows,
you-tube videos, etc.
4. Students may only use the media option for THREE (3) of the
SEVEN (7) stages.
5. The assignment must be typed using 12 point font and Times
Roman, Calibri, or Ariel. Handwritten versions will not be
accepted. Please type directly into this document.
6. Answer the questions with complete sentences.
7. Remember: This is an assignment, not an exam. You may ask
the professor for help if you do not understand a question. This
is encouraged!
8. Submit this assignment to the D2L dropbox on dates and
times indicated on the class schedule. If D2L is unavailable, the
instructor will provide directions for submission.
PART THREE
Observation of Middle Adulthood
Location of
observation:__________________________________________
___________
Date of observation:
_____________________________________________________
___
Begin Time:________
End Time:_________
A. Describe the situation of observation (5 points)
a. How many middle adults were there________
i. Describe them (estimated age, gender, ethnicity, socio-
economic class, and what they were wearing):
B. Physiological Development (12 points)
a. Physiologically, how do you know they are middle adults?
b. Assume that the people you are observing just entered middle
adulthood and are curious about how their bodies will change.
What will you tell them about projected physiological changes
(pp. 338 -341)?
C. Socioemotional Development (12 points)
a. Discuss what you observed from the perspective of Eric
Erikson. What stage are they in, and how do you know?
b. Again, assume that the people you are observing just entered
middle adulthood but are now curious about how their
relationships may change: What will you tell them (pp. 362-
368)?
D. Cognitive Development (6 points)
a. Discuss what you observed in terms of information
processing and memory. If you did not observe anything related
to this, describe what you might have witnessed from someone
in this stage of development.
Observation of Late Adulthood
Location of
observation:__________________________________________
___________
Date of observation:
_____________________________________________________
___
Begin Time:________
End Time:_________
A. Describe the situation of observation (5 points)
a. How many late adults were there:________
i. Describe them (estimated age, gender, ethnicity, socio-
economic, and what they were wearing):
B. Physiological Development (12 points)
a. Using pages 370-380, what did you witness? How do you
know?
b. What would you suggest that the people you are observing do
to increaseor maintain their physiological functioning (380-

C. Socioemotional Development (12 points)
a. Discuss what you observed from the perspective of Eric
Erikson. What would you say to the people you were observing
about ensuring that they feel integrity versus despair?
b. Use Selective Optimization with Compensation Theory (pp.
401-402) to explain what you would say to the people you are
observing about successful aging.
D. Cognitive Development (6 points)
a. Discuss what you observed regarding the memory of the
people you were observing. What type of memory did they
demonstrate and how do you know (pp. 384-391)?
Networking and Next Steps
Building Your Network
When you registered for this course, you may or may not have
had a clear understanding of the advanced graduate degree path
you planned to pursue. As you reflect on what you have
explored in your coursework and from your colleagues this
semester, you may have gained additional insight on this
important decision. The choice of a degree path is very per sonal
and is based on your passion and the goals you want to reach.
Do not worry if you are still not sure which path is the best one
for you. Your student advisor can assist you by answering any
questions you might have.
As you have engaged in interactions with your Instructor and
colleagues, you may have begun to sense how important it is to
build a network of individuals to support you in the degree
pathway and specialization you select.
Many of you will attend a residency, and this is an excellent
way of meeting people and forming relationships. Having a
network of colleagues who are traveling an advanced graduate
degree path at the same time you are is an excellent support
system and may contribute to the success you have in the
program. Networking, however, does not have to occur in a
face-to-face setting. You might find that using Skype, smart
phones, social media, and other methods are useful ways to stay
connected and to support one another.
Assignment
Write a 3-page paper in which you accomplish the following:
· Write a brief description of the degree path and specialization
you plan to pursue.
· My degree path I plan to pursue is to become an college
professor in the specialized field of Early Childhood Education.
· Then, explain at least two strategies you are likely to use to
build a network with colleagues and explain why these
particular strategies would support professional collaboration.
· Explain how you might apply the perspective of your degree
pathway and specialization to a problem related to a topic about
which you are passionate.
· Identify two goals—one personal and one professional—that
will support you as you continue on your chosen degree
pathway. Explain how these personal and professional goals
inform how you might address a problem related to your topic.
