2. Background
• Rob was born in 1962 in Akrotiri, Cyprus. He
studied at Trent Polytechnic and at the Royal
College of Art in London
• He has Collaborated with Paul Smith, Liberty
London, Tatty Devine and Vogue
• He has written three books, ‘this is for you’, ‘A
sky full of kindness’ and ‘The Invisible
Kingdom’
3. Rob uses a technique
called cut outs where he
takes a piece of card and
cuts out shapes using a
scalpel. There is a limited
colour palette because he
only uses one piece of
card, this is successful
because it makes the
image look simple even
though the technique is
complicated. Rob uses
typography in this piece,
it’s a poem and the image
is based around that
poem. His work is abstract
which works well with the
poem in the image
4. This image use more colours
than his other work but the
palette is still limited. The
technique is to cut out separate
sheets of card but then layer
them up. The typography is on a
large scale compared to his
other work, this reflects the
theme well as the image is about
his book ‘The Invisible Kingdom’.
He uses lots of patterns and
shapes in this image
