Mary Lowe is a 56-year-old married woman living in Dallas, Texas attending community college. She has two teenage daughters, one with special needs. Mary is a survivor of family rape from ages 4 to 14. She has overcome many obstacles in her life without drugs or alcohol. Her motivation for returning to school is to provide a better future and education for her children. She has experience in nursing, massage therapy, and volunteering with her church and animal shelters.

CurrentlyIam marriedlivinginDallasTexas,where isamattendingacommunity college.Ihave

overby a car. And 11 monthslaterthe oldest wastoldhe had EwingSarcoma cancer thatseems
to affectmales.Anddied18 monthslater. Iam a survivorof familyrape atthe age of 4-14.
My experiencesinlife hashelped withmanyobstaclesinmyway,and I have learnedhow todeal
withdifference degreesof obstacleswithoutthe needfordrugsandalcohol. Iam someone who
isable to control a situationratherthanallow asituationtocontrol me.I am someone whois
mature,candidand believe inintegrity.Ithrive toimprove myselfandmyskills.Iaimtokeep
linesof communicationopenandamconcernedwiththe needsof others andtryto uncover
whatis trulywantedbyothers. I donot believeinprocrastinating.Ihave taughtmy childrento
nevergive upandneverstop trying, mostof all itdoesnot matterhow slow you go,or how long
it takes:aslongasyou do notstop.And I believe thatbycompletingschool,itwill have abig

Because I am a full time momanda full time student,ithastaughtme to be more of a

leaderforthe church I attendedfor5 years.I have helpedthe SPCA for18 months. Iwas a nurse
at a drugtreatmentcenter, hospitals, nursinghomesandprivate home care.LaterI became my
son’snurse whenhe got cancer.I was mysons massage therapistwhile he wassickandfell in
love doingit,somuch that I wasmassagingotherchildreninhospital whoalsohadcancer. One
childtoldhermotherthat I coulddo magicwiththe touch of my hands. I wouldverymuchlike to
be a massage therapist. Iwouldlike tonotonlylearntoprefectstrokessuchas,Fan Stroking,
LightCircle,Deepstroking.Iwouldespeciallylovetofocuson Featherand Cat Stroking.Because
whenchildrendon’t feel good sometime the slightesttouchhurts.But Featherand Cat couldbe
the calmingeffecttheyneedtofeel better.I hadstarted an online classof massage therapyafew
yearsback before Iran out of funds. One of mybig concernisthat as my age andarthritis
catchesup withme that it couldslowme .ThenI will be the one whoisinneedof a massage
therapy.Butlike otherobstaclesinmy life, ittoowill be handledlike other obstacleshave hadto
