2014 Québec ITU Winter Triathlon
A world first! On March 8 and 9, 2014, the 2014 Québec ITU Win-
ter Triathlon will bring together the sports elite for an event approved
by the International Triathlon Union (ITU). This challenge will include
5 km of snowshoeing, 12 km of speed skating and 8 km of skiing.
World-renowned athletes have already confirmed they are participat-
ing, including Sylvie Bacaert (France), two-time Olympic medallist,
and René-Laurent Vuillermoz (Italy), six-time medallist at the Biathlon
World Cup. The schedule also features an open event.

New detachable quad chair lift
at Mont-Sainte-Anne
Starting in December 2013, the new Doppelmayr brand lift will replace
the triple chairlift serving the expert slopes. The new chairlift will be
twice as fast, in addition to serving a larger skiable terrain.

at the Stoneham Mountain Resort.
Discontinued in 2007, jumps will be back at Stoneham! Thanks to new
advances in terms of safety, 4 to 6 jumps will now be available at the
mountain’s XL park. A new intermediate glade trail will be added to the
network, bringing the total number of trails to 42.

A winter blast ... on two wheels
After opening its trails to the Segway x2 this summer, Station
touristique Duchesnay will now offer a winter activity as well,
starting in January 2014. A 3 km forest trail specifically developed for
exploring by Segway will be groomed by snowmobile. The trek lasts
an hour and fifteen minutes.

Le Parc national de la Jacques-Cartier,
accessible year-round!
Starting this fall, the Moyen Kernan, Petit Kernan, Godendart and new
EXP cabins will be accessible all winter long. Fully equipped, they of-
fer modern comfort in the middle of the great outdoors. The yurt sea-
son has also been extended -- they will now be available on Fridays
and Saturdays from October 20 to December 20.

Longhouse opening at Wendake
Designed to welcome travellers for guided tours, the Wendat national
longhouse also allows adventurous spirits to spend a night under the
supervision of the firekeeper. Other activities are offered, including
a workshop on building a bark canoe and listening to First Nations

350 years ... a unique chance to come together!
December 8, 2013 will see the start of the festivities to celebrate the 350th
anniversary of the Notre-Dame de Québec parish. The program will start
with a ceremonial opening of the Holy Door, the 7th in the world and the 1st
to be opened outside of Europe. This activity-packed schedule will con-
tinue through all of 2014.

The largest cultural construction site in Québec
On September 5, the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec officially
broke ground on the Pierre Lassone Pavillion. This is the largest construc-
tion project in Quebec’s cultural sector! This extraordinary project, the fruit
of the first international architecture competition held in Québec, will give
the capital a new museum complex in 2015.

Musée de la civilisation
Four new exhibits will be presented, including

Painter, author and communications pioneer Pierre Gavreau, who died in
April 2011, left us a legacy that includes works of art, literature, television
and cinema that marked the development of Québec culture, as this exhibit
shows.

This new permanent exhibition, which follows up on the Nous, les Pre-
mières Nations exhibition, will teach visitors about today’s native cultures,
delving into what it means to be a Native in the 21st century.
