Significant body of
knowledge about the
use of digital tools by
Catalan and Spanish
women activists and/or
feminist groups, despite
being a relatively new
topic.
6. 2. Literature review
• Observation of the interaction between activist campaigns developed in
the physical and digital spheres.
• Analysis of how context and target actors and audiences influence the
activity of the two feminist groups as well as their use of social media =
situation (Clarke, Friese and Washburn, 2018) + process (Charmaz,
2016).
• May provide relevant insights on how socioeconomic level and race
influence the use of digital tools for developing feminist activism.

7. O1. Identify opportunities and limitations of the use of digital tools for the
organization of feminist groups, as well as for the development of their campaigns.
O2. Compare the use of digital tools, and the role they have in the achievement
of activists’ goals and the satisfaction of needs, of two feminist groups that differ
from each other in terms of objectives and the socio-demographic characteristics of
their members.
O3. Contribute to the debate on whether social media are a tool for women’s
emancipation or an instrument of political alienation, in the service of the neoliberal
companies that own them.
O4. Explore the complementarity between situated feminist knowledges produced
in both academic and activist spheres.
RQ.1. How does each feminist group incorporate the use of digital tools in its
activist practices?
