Group Leader Manufacturing
AgroSavfe has the ambition to contribute to a safer production of healthier food. We use heavy-chain
binding domains derived from camelid antibodies or Agrobodies® for the development of innovative
biopesticides to control crop pests and diseases. Our first research program has resulted in a series of
Agrobodies® with anti-fungal activity as demonstrated by the protection of plants from fungal
infections.
The challenges we face are substantial but so are the rewards, as we are taking a whole new
approach for the development of biopesticides. AgroSavfe is a highly dynamic company welcoming

AgroSavfe has generated Agrobodies against a key component of the fungal cell membrane and cell
wall and such Agrobodies have anti-fungal activities against a broad range of fungi. Anti-fungal
Agrobodies can be produced by fermentation and be applied as a spray-on biopesticide or in a seed
coating to protect crops and harvested products from infections. We are now moving these
Agrobodies into the development process, focusing on the commercialization of biofungicides for
applications on fruits, vegetables and other crops. Large scale fermentation and downstream
processing is required to generate large amounts of Agrobodies for further testing in the greenhouse
and field, so we need to scale our productions from mg’s to g’s and kg’s. Therefore, we are looking
for an engineer or scientist, with expertise and experience in fermentation and in downstream
processing of proteins in E. coli and more importantly in yeasts. The engineer/scientist is expected to
organize fermentations and downstream processing with a small in-house team and by interaction
with service providers.

Role purpose
Lead a group of Production, Formulation and Quantification Scientists and act as the Lead for
Commercial Manufacturing of Agrobodies.
Accountabilities
 Lead, coach and develop a team of production, formulation and quantification professionals,
providing technical leadership to design and develop an innovative cost efficient and scalable
manufacturing platform, with optimized production and formulation technologies,
quantifiable ingredients, aligned with agriculture practices and the field biology of targeted
pests and diseases;
 Provide strategic input into the Company’s R&D Leadership, advice and influence the
development of the overall business strategy and the generation of individual product
strategies;

 Contribute significantly to the development of functional excellence and quality systems and
implement the strategy by applying cross-functional technical knowledge and proposing and
leading improvement initiatives;
 Develop know-how, competitive advantage and inventions which contribute to the overall
quality and efficacy of Agrobody-based crop protection products - work closely with Patent
Attorneys to file applications appropriately;
 Build and nurture an external scientific network, act as an ambassador for the company,
propose external collaborations options and provide scientific and technical leadership into
the selected collaborations;
 Provide constructive challenge to ensure scientific integrity and prioritisation of work and
build a culture of innovation within the organization;
 Ensure that all operations under direct control comply with the Health, Safety & Environment
policies of the company and conform applicable legal standards;
 May have specific tasks and responsibilities and may influence the overall development of the
company.
Knowledge, experience and capabilities
Critical knowledge
 Post Doc, PhD, engineer (or equivalent ) in molecular biology and fermentation processes,
protein expression, bacterial and fungal production systems, formulation chemistry or
engineering or related disciplines;
 Deep knowledge of scalable production technologies applied in the development of
innovative (protein based) products and their scale-up and manufacture;
 Deep knowledge of scalable analytical and quantification methods and techniques to quantify
the relevant ingredients in the Technical Grade Active Ingredient and End Use Product for
quality and regulatory end points;
 Deep knowledge of scalable formulation technologies applied in the development of
innovative (protein based) products and their scale-up and manufacture to increase product
level efficacy, stability and delivery in line with the field biology of the targeted pests and
diseases;
Critical experience
 Experience of working in fundamental areas of production, quantification and formulation
technology development, and translating these into the manufacturing of innovative, high
quality products;
 Experience in quality assurance or quality control is an advantage;
 People leadership of a team of high performing technology professionals;
 Working in a matrix organisation;
 Problem solving;
 Group-, Team Leader or equivalent position;
 Relevant industry experience (6 - 10 years).
