2. "Ω, τι κόσμος μπαμπά", roughly translated to "Oh, what a world dad" is a play born out of
the harsh times of 1970s in Greece. Even though it was written more than 40 years ago, it
now seems more timely than ever.
3. The play itself is a series of semi autonomous scenes, all connected through the main
themes and a few recurring characters. These characters face problems many of us face
today like poverty, sexual confusion, social contact and acceptance, death and so on.
4. One of those main themes is resentment towards the state of the society due to the
dictatorship that ruled over Greece at the time the play was written.
5. Mirroring the life of the Greeks in the 1970s, the play touches on the growing distrust
towards the political system, the collapse of traditional values and of faith to the state,
most poignantly expressed by the character of "John" who isn't afraid to speak his mind
about the political situation.
6. His reaction, which was heavily influenced by the dictatorship that ruled over Greece until
1974, yet seems to correlate perfectly with the crisis that we are all facing today; a financial
crisis but also one of morality.
7. A very sarcastic and satirical play that's meant to poke fun at the growing conformism of
people that are less keen on reacting to anything that happens beyond their doorstep.
8. A play that, like its creator, is fundamentally opposed to accepting reality as it is and instead
prompts us to rise up and fight for a better future.
