Demand for executive talent is growing and the search industry has returned to revenue
growth. However, while fees are rising clients are increasingly using external firms for only
a subset of assignments, while building internal teams that handle increasing numbers of
executive searches. This means, for a Search firm to be successful, it needs to demonstrate
superior performance – consistently. Corporate search teams are raising the game, and
external firms need to react.
The World Executive Search Congress, taking place on September 26-27, brings together
representatives of both sides of the industry – Search Firms and Corporate representatives
– and asks “How can both sides prosper in the new Executive Search market?”
Join us for sessions targeting every element of the Search industry. Simon Mullins on how
in-house teams need to collaborate with search firms, and how search firms can deliver
strategic value to their clients. Panel discussions featuring leaders of some of the best
known organisations in the world. John Purkiss on building an executive search brand,
and a discussion on how search teams can deliver operational excellence. Masterclasses
in LinkedIn, Internet Research and Business Development. Negotiation skills. Search
execution techniques. Speakers including representatives and alumni of search firms
including Heidrick & Struggles, Odgers Berndtson, TRANSEARCH International, Russell
Reynolds and Korn/Ferry and Corporates including Jaguar Land Rover, Microsoft,
PA Consulting, Philips and PwC with several other globally known organisations awaiting
confirmation. Simultaneous sessions allowing you and your team members to select those
that are most pertinent to the challenges you face in your role.
We will also take full advantage of our unique setting. Our venue is not a hotel, not a
Conference Center, it is a Royal Palace. You’ll walk along the Thames, and enter via a
drawbridge. You’llseetheBeefeatersbeforeheadingintotheArmouryforourmainmeetings.
On the Monday evening, a drinks reception will be followed by a short presentation from
the Keeper of the Crown Jewels – after which we will head to the Jewel House for a private
viewing of the Royal treasures. A unique, once in a lifetime opportunity, which will be just
one highlight of two days of discussion, learning and international networking.
Why take time away from the office?
•	Hear strategic insights from top-notch speakers, including representatives and alumni
of global search firms Heidrick & Struggles, Odgers Berndtson, TRANSEARCH
International, Russell Reynolds and Korn/Ferry, and corporations such as Jaguar Land
Rover, Microsoft, PA Consulting, Philips and PwC.
•	Joinoperation-focusedsessionsontopicssuchhowin-houseteamsneedtocollaborate
with search firms, and how search firms can deliver strategic value to their clients,
internet research techniques, branding, masterclasses in business development and
negotiation skills and much more! With various sessions to choose from, you can
create your own personalized agenda.
•	Engage in invaluable networking opportunities with fellow executive search and
strategic talent acquisition professionals from all over the globe.
•	Because you want to take a step back to evaluate how to remain profitable and
sustainable and, ultimately, win the war for talent! Hundreds of delegates from across
the world attended the past four events and gave exceptional feedback. If you are
involved in the search and selection of business leaders - whether you work for a
corporate executive recruiting team or a search firm – this is a must-attend event.
Understanding the New Battleground in the War for Executive Talent
Following the success of the 2015 World Executive Search Congress, we switch from the bright lights of Las Vegas to an even more iconic location for the 2016 event.
This year, leaders from both executive search firms and in-house executive talent acquisition teams will meet at one of London’s most prestigious buildings – The Tower of London!

“The World Executive Search Congress was the best
conference that I have ever attended - ever - with
content that included state-of-the art information we
can use. The presentations were dynamic and insightful
and the leaders were incredibly knowledgeable.
The structure of the conference allowed the audience to
participate and ask thoughtful probing questions.
While there was good attendance, I wish everyone
in talent management, search consultants and talent
acquisition leaders, could have been there.
On a 1 to 10, this was a 100!”
- Janet Jones-Parker,
Janet Jones-Parker & Associates (USA)
“The World Executive Search Congress
was a superior learning opportunity for a
small business like ourselves, pinpoint one
human resources. I congratulate you on the
organization of the event. Information sharing,
updates, networking was world class.
The fact that the audience was small to medium
firms meant there was a free flow of sharing.
It was the best value for money ever.”

9:10am Simon Mullins – Partner, ESIX: Executive Search Information Exchange
The Way Forward: In-house executive recruiting and external executive search firms partnering to make change, not just transactions.
Change is a constant, and adaptation is key. Our client companies are constantly under pressure to respond to forces that many of them did not foresee even a year ago. Our mission - both on the in-house side as well as the external
search firm side, is to collaborate together for the greater good of our clients. The key word here is partnership - we must do this together, or we’ll just continue making transactions, and never truly make change.
For this presentation and discussion, Simon Mullins will draw on his own 20+ years of both corporate and external executive recruiting, as well as the 200+ meetings of ESIX: The Executive Search Information Exchange, the only peer
group whose members are dedicated to corporate executive recruiting, which Simon now facilitates. We will discuss the growing trend of in-house search teams, what that means for external search firms, and how the two functions
(continue to) work together towards the end goal of delivering strategic value to their client companies.

Partner or Servant: Which relationship do you want with your client?
In today’s marketplace, all services are being commoditised. Not only does this put downward pressure on fees;
it creates a relationship where the supplier is at the client’s beck-and-call. In this session, John Niland will address
how to establish a more peer-to-peer relationship with the client and in this way, raise the value of your work.

3:30pm John Purkiss – Director, Purkiss & Company
Branding for Executive Search
This seminar will help you to market yourself and your firm more effectively. In order to market yourself, you have
to know yourself. Your brand should be like a building - distinctive and visible from far away. Your talents are
the bedrock on which it is built. Your values are the foundations. Just like a building, you have a purpose. John
Purkiss will take you through a series of exercises which will give you deep insights into all of this. He will then
use archetypes to help you identify the way you serve your clients, which distinguishes you from other search
professionals in your market. The 12 archetypes are: the Caregiver, the Creator, the Explorer, the Hero, the Innocent,
the Jester, the Lover, the Magician, the Ordinary Guy/Girl, the Outlaw, the Ruler and the Sage. We will then apply the
same approach to building your firm’s brand. The strongest corporate brands evoke one archetype clearly. John
will show you how to use all of these insights to market yourself and your firm, both online and in your physical
interactions with clients and candidates.

Jake Gordon-Clark, Partner, Heidrick & Struggles
Other panellists to be confirmed
Our panel will share their experiences of building valued relationships between clients and search firms in a world
where suppliers are now expected to deliver far more than a hire. Our client side panellists will share what they look
for in suppliers when going to market while our suppliers will show how they have carved out added value services
that give clients more than ever before in a tight market
TBC
10:10am John Niland – Professional Speaker, Coach and Author, VCO Global
Adding value by managing the negotiation between candidate and client
The client has a need, but a tight budget. The candidate has the skill, but high expectations. On the one hand, this
a problem; on the other, it’s an opportunity for you to add value. In this session, John Niland will lead a discussion
on ways in which we can help manage the negotiation between candidate and client.
Carol O'Driscoll – Director, Archer Search
What clients think they want and what they really need.
How can we exceed expectations today and tomorrow?
Have client expectations changed with the impact of new technology? If so how should we adapt? This session
will review what clients really think they want and how executive search professionals try to meet those needs. Is
there a disconnect? How can we provide the most professional quality service for our clients?

This means, for a Search firm to be successful, it needs to demonstrate superior performance – consistently. Corporate search teams are raising the game, and external firms need to react. The World Executive Search Congress, taking place on September 26-27, brings together representatives of both sides of the industry – Search Firms and Corporate representatives – and asks “How can both sides prosper in the new Executive Search market?” Join us for sessions targeting every element of the Search industry. Simon Mullins on how in-house teams need to collaborate with search firms, and how search firms can deliver strategic value to their clients. Panel discussions featuring leaders of some of the best known organisations in the world. John Purkiss on building an executive search brand, and a discussion on how search teams can deliver operational excellence. Masterclasses in LinkedIn, Internet Research and Business Development. Negotiation skills. Search execution techniques. Simultaneous sessions allowing you and your team members to select those that are most pertinent to the challenges you face in your role. We will also take full advantage of our unique setting. Our venue is not a hotel, not a Conference Center, it is a Royal Palace. You’ll walk along the Thames, and enter via a drawbridge. You’llseetheBeefeatersbeforeheadingintotheArmouryforourmainmeetings. • 4. 8:30am Breakfast 9:00am Welcome Remarks 9:10am Simon Mullins – Partner, ESIX: Executive Search Information Exchange The Way Forward: In-house executive recruiting and external executive search firms partnering to make change, not just transactions. Change is a constant, and adaptation is key. Our client companies are constantly under pressure to respond to forces that many of them did not foresee even a year ago. Our mission - both on the in-house side as well as the external search firm side, is to collaborate together for the greater good of our clients. The key word here is partnership - we must do this together, or we’ll just continue making transactions, and never truly make change. For this presentation and discussion, Simon Mullins will draw on his own 20+ years of both corporate and external executive recruiting, as well as the 200+ meetings of ESIX: The Executive Search Information Exchange, the only peer group whose members are dedicated to corporate executive recruiting, which Simon now facilitates. We will discuss the growing trend of in-house search teams, what that means for external search firms, and how the two functions (continue to) work together towards the end goal of delivering strategic value to their client companies. • 5. AGENDA DAY 1 - SEPTEMBER 26, 2016 12:50pm SPONSOR PRESENTATION 1:00pm LUNCH AND NETWORKING BREAK Room 1 Room 2 2:00pm John Niland – Professional Speaker, Coach and Author, VCO Global Partner or Servant: Which relationship do you want with your client? In today’s marketplace, all services are being commoditised. Not only does this put downward pressure on fees; it creates a relationship where the supplier is at the client’s beck-and-call. In this session, John Niland will address how to establish a more peer-to-peer relationship with the client and in this way, raise the value of your work. TBC 3:30pm John Purkiss – Director, Purkiss & Company Branding for Executive Search This seminar will help you to market yourself and your firm more effectively. In order to market yourself, you have to know yourself. Your brand should be like a building - distinctive and visible from far away. Your talents are the bedrock on which it is built. Your values are the foundations. Just like a building, you have a purpose. John Purkiss will take you through a series of exercises which will give you deep insights into all of this. He will then use archetypes to help you identify the way you serve your clients, which distinguishes you from other search professionals in your market. The 12 archetypes are: the Caregiver, the Creator, the Explorer, the Hero, the Innocent, the Jester, the Lover, the Magician, the Ordinary Guy/Girl, the Outlaw, the Ruler and the Sage. We will then apply the same approach to building your firm’s brand. The strongest corporate brands evoke one archetype clearly. John will show you how to use all of these insights to market yourself and your firm, both online and in your physical interactions with clients and candidates. CLOSED SESSION 4:15pm DRINKS RECEPTION 5:15pm Private Visit to the Crown Jewels The Chief Exhibitor of the Crown Jewels will provide a short introduction to the Royal Jewel House, after which attendees will be free to view the royal collection.
