Enthusiastic Humboldtian with a broad and deep understanding of Molecular Sciences; practical
expertiseinOrganic,Physical,SupramolecularandPolymerChemistry.Over10 yearsof experienceas
an independent research group leader, with own facilities including a chemistry lab and a fully
equipped cell culture lab with sophisticated fluorescence and AFMresearch microscopes.
Research interests
My main research focus lies on the synthesis of functional NanoBiomaterials, their 2D- and 3D-
patterning to control cell adhesion and migration.
Currently, I am also developing various novel nanocomposite materials with hydrogels;
i) goldor silvernanoparticlesforflexible nanoplasmonicapplications(e.g.SERS) andforthe
support of active catalysts;
ii) ii) in situ formed CalciumPhosphate-hydrogel nanocompositesforbone and teethrepair
applications.
As forthe latter,several (bio)chemical and(bio)physical strategiesare exploredtoachieve spatialand
temporal control of localized biomineralization and cell behaviour.
