1. Lord Majesty Biography
Marc Nicholas Johnson started writing poetry at the age of nine and has been listening to hip-hop
since Kurtis Blow, Run DMC, Eric B. and Rakim, LL Cool J, EPMD, and the Beastie Boys first
hit the scene. Memorizing the best songs on their albums and performing them at parties and
with friends, Marc started his dream to be a rap / hip - hop artist. Soon after that he started
writing his own rhymes and performing them for family, friends, and at talent shows.
After some street battles and ciphers, Marc took the name the Evil Wizard and started a group
called K.T.M. (K – Town Mob), named after an area in Chicago where the streets all begin with a
letter “K”. With six other members, he and the K – Town Mob started opening shows for some of
the hottest artist of that time such as Scarface, Spice One, and SWV! This lead to studio
production and radio interviews that helped inspire Evil to start doing parties with the support of
his brother, Dave Johnson, who helped promote the group. These were dubbed the “K.T.M.
Parties”. These parties helped start the professional careers of some of Chicago’s premier rap
groups like Do or Die and Crucial Conflict. This also helped start Evil’s close relationships with
Chicago’s underground rap stars Triple Darkness, Psychodrama and the SNYPAZ while doing
promotions for Creator’s Way Records.
While doing the parties and performing local shows, Evil learned about marketing, promotions,
and advertising. This lead him to meeting the then Regional Urban Music Promotion
Representative for Relativity Records, Mohammed Ali at a show for Chicago hip – hop star
Common Sense at the Riviera Night Club. After further communication and another meeting with
Mohammed Ali at George’s Music Room during a show featuring Suave House Records group
the South Circle, Mr. Mohammed Ali was promoted to the position of Vice President of Urban
Promotions for Relativity Records and Evil was given the opportunity to intern for Relativity
Records in the Chicago Market with Mr. Mohammed Ali as his mentor. During this time Evil
Wizard used the pseudonym Evolution to perform the tasks of publicity, street, retail, club, and
DJ / radio promotions for artists like Eazy E, Fat Joe, the Beatnuts, MJG and Eightball, Mr. Mike,
MOP, and Bone Thugz – n- Harmony.
Now Evol (short for Evolution) has a new artist name, Lord Majesty, and has produced and
released a hot and ready maxi-single titled “Shadows of a Gangsta”! This maxi-single is a five
track album with three tight vocals tracks and two blazing instrumentals. The first track is called
“Bust Sparks” and it gives the aura of a ‘starving’ artist grinding hard. The third track on the
maxi-single is the title track “Shadows of a Gangsta”. It is about a young Lord in Chicago ‘living
in the shadows of a gangster’. It is well written and delivered with viciousness. It is gangster rap
at its best. The last song is named after the Marvin Gaye classic “What’s Going On?” It tells the
story of a young brother coming from gangbanging and dope dealing to finding God.
