According to a health article in the Daily Mail, Angela Brooks
went to her GP who referred her to an orthopaedic surgeon for
bunion removal surgery. As expected, the surgeon said she
needed bunion surgery but that she could probably wait a bit
longer.
She tried special insoles, which helped a little, but then a friend
told her about a German orthopaedic surgeon who was carrying
out a new, far less invasive, procedure on bunions.
She saw the doctor who said her left foot was bad enough to
warrant treatment but that she could probably hold off a year or
so on her right foot. However, since she only wanted one
recovery period, she chose to have both feet done at the same
time.
The operation he did took couple of minutes on each foot and was done under local anaesthetic. It involved one tiny
incision, so there would be less damage and pain. He also put a thin piece of wire through the length of her foot,
which would be removed a month later, to keep it stable while it was healing.
She was home a couple of hours after the operation and had no discomfort from the swelling because she
religiously applied the ice packs as recommended.
Just six weeks later, she was wearing high-heeled boots and her feet felt fine. Now her feet look and feel great and
she wears heels whenever she likes.
