Fundraising and Marketing committee
• Acted as a public relations agent and raised aprox. $1,800.00, about a third of the
$5,000.00 goal amount.
o Contacted potential sponsors and wrote letters to businesses and non-
profits, requesting economical support for our project.
o Attended community events and approached individuals to both promote
and fund the project.
o Participated in radio programs, English and Spanish, to advertise our
project.
• Helped to remodel and convert the Umatilla Senior Center into the now Umatilla
Community Center.
o Removed carpets, installed new flooring, and painted, among other hands-
on tasks.
As learner, also participated in other Leadership programs such as Effective Organizations, Community
Collaborations, and Empezando un Negocio.
2010 - Current Girls Scouts Hermiston, OR
Troop co-leader/treasurer
• Supervised and planned activities for the girls following GS guidelines
• Helped the girls set goals and achieve them: with cookie/nut money, the troop has
traveled to Idaho, Seattle, and Portland; gone camping, rafting, and done much
more!
• Assisted the main leader when traveling.
• Convinced people about “cookie goodness”.
