Re: Maddalena Vani
I am pleased to confirm that Maddalena Vani completed a Junior Research Fellowship
with the NATO Council of Canada from September 2013 to January 2014. The position
required her to produce a minimum of 14 concise and carefully researched articles for
publication on our website.
This in itself is nothing compared to the discipline and dedication required by
Maddalena to submit these articles weekly on time and remotely with very little
prompting. This shows that she is organized and a self-starter – two extremely valuable
qualities in any situation.
Since I do the final editing for all articles, I can attest that Maddalena’s articles were
well researched and documented, and written in a clear and concise style, on a variety of
topics under our main heading “Women in Security” which considers the role of women
in the defence industry, military, security policy and political decision-making. Her
articles were always submitted in a timely manner and were well received by our
readers, frequently receiving favourable social media comments.
I would strongly recommend Maddalena Vani and believe that the qualities of character
and the writing skills she displayed as a Fellow at the NATO Council of Canada predict
that she will have a very successful career.
