On April 16, 2015, two HPHT-grown diamonds were brought to HRD Antwerp for examination
regarding the 4 C’s. These are the results:

Various spectroscopic techniques were used to analyse the two stones:
- FTIR absorption spectroscopy
- UV-VIS absorption spectroscopy
- Photoluminescence spectroscopy
- EDXRF spectroscopy
- Diamond ViewTM
imaging
FTIR absorption spectra (Figure 1) show that the colourless diamond is type IIb whereas the
yellow diamond is type Ib.

Diamond ViewTM
imaging reveals cuboctahedral growth structures which are characteristic for
HPHT grown diamonds (Figure 3). Both stones display phosphorescence.

Based on all the results it can be concluded that both diamonds are indeed HPHT grown
diamonds.
