Allied health solutions scoping brief 2016
1. Scoping the potential for Allied Health
Solutions to contribute to Allied Health
Professional workforce development in the
Midlands and East of England
Project Brief
2. Allied Health Solutions (AHS), established in 2011, supports health and care organisations, and their
staff, to reach their potential.
AHS has significant experience as principal clinicians and academics, in enabling workforce development,
evaluating services, leading and managing clinical service improvement and providing bespoke training
programmes.
AHS are interested in scoping the current needs and provision for leadership and workforce
development, specifically designed for Allied Health Professionals (AHPs), in the East Midlands, West
Midlands and East of England.
This scoping work will commence in early October 2016 and be completed by mid November 2016 and
include reviewing:
• AHP workforce development and any AHP requirements by local geography;
• the promotion of national and regional development programmes;
• the level of development of alternative workforce roles within AHP services;
• the level of staff accessing available leadership development.
3. AHS is interested in exploring the opportunity to develop activities around:
• clinical leadership
• falls and frailty
• the AHP support workforce.
However, AHS is also keen to discuss AHP development needs related to the three challenges described in
the Five Year Forward View including care and quality; efficiency; and health and wellbeing.
AHS plans to undertake this work through arranging workshop (s), meetings and face-to-face discussions,
telephone and email conversations with key individuals and regional groups, representing a selection of AHPs
from across the identified areas. Discussions will:
• focus on the development needs identified by individuals, their teams and their organisations;
• clarify the current provision, support for and offer of leadership training, support and workforce development;
• include access to training and development, explore the level of focus on AHP development and the perceived
value of AHP services to the future delivery of health and social care;
• consider the need for the development of alternative and extended workforce roles to meet workforce
demands and development needs and any programmes in place to meet these needs.
Linda Agnew will support this work on behalf of AHS.
